Like the typical romantic comedy series, the show fixates on its cast of characters and their interactions with one another, highlighting key parts of their lives in a lighthearted manner. The series is centered on the life of Kyoutarou Ichikawa, a seemingly shy and private high schooler, but deep beneath his reserved exterior lies a coldhearted killer who would want nothing more than to have his classmate, Anna Yamada, writhe in pain before dying at his hands. However, he may not get his wish, as he soon starts to see Anna in a completely different light. So, for fans who like the series, here are some recommendations for a varied watch.
Scum’s Wishpresents a romantic situation of inverse proportions. The series focuses on the central characters, Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya, who, on the outside, preserve the appearance of the perfect couple. My Happy Marriagefollows the events and circumstances surrounding the betrothal of the central character, Miyo Saimori’s life. Born also from an arranged marriage, Miyo is quickly discarded after the death of her mother.
Miyo is degraded; having not manifested any superhuman power required of her bloodline, she is regarded as less than human by her father and stepmother. Miyo is married to Kyoka, the Kudo House, and the clan’s heir, Kyoka Kudo. It remains to be seen whether the House into which Miyo aims to marry will be even more welcoming than the one she has come from.
