Summary
Overwatch 2is a universe with very clearly defined heroes and villains. Outside a few characters that find themselves somewhere in the middle, like Symmetra due to her place in the shady Vishkar Corporation, most characters are either good or bad. The many good characters include new and old members of Overwatch like Lucio and Sojourn, as well as kind characters unaffiliated with the group like Lifeweaver. Several villains either find themselves in Talon or Null Sector, with Doomfist, Ramattra, Moira, and so on being among the crueler members of the cast. With Ashe andRoadhogbeing criminals unaffiliated with either terrorist group, there is plenty of diversity in terms of the heroes’ morals.
A futureOverwatch 2battle pass is set to play with the concept of good and bad heroes, as Blizzard has teased a mirror universe theme for one of the free-to-play game’s future seasons. This mirror universe theme will see good heroes becoming bad and villainous characters embracing heroism, and it could result in a number of memorable designs. While fans do not know when in 2024 this Battle Pass will release, there are a few characters that immediately come to mind as good fits for a Mirror Universe.
Talon Winston
When thinking about the most loyal members of Overwatch, it is hard to think of a character that loves the group more than Winston. The genetically engineered gorilla is responsible for the recall and the group officially reuniting to battle the newOmnic uprising, and his upbeat attitude has yet to be altered by any skins, even darker looks like his yeti and gargoyle outfits. However, this is exactly why a Talon skin design would be so perfect, as Winston could have entirely new voice lines that make him darker and more serious. In the Mirror Universe, the tests done on him to make him a genius could have been far harsher, and he could have damaged skin, red eyes, and be covered with tubes.
Vishkar Lucio
While Lucio may not be a hero that jumps out to gamers as anything other than a hero, anything can happen in a Mirror Universe. Instead of throwing the music-loving character into a terrorist group like Talon, Lucio could be loyal to Vishkar, an organization he rebelled against in the main timeline. He could sport their signature blue colors and hardlight gear while having a more cocky, arrogant attitude likeSymmetra, a result of his father staying with the company and Lucio being raised like Symmetra was.
Null Sector Zenyatta
While Ramattra’s subjucators could make it so that this kind of skin happens in the officialOverwatch 2universe, asZenyattacould end up mind controlled, players could also see what he would look like if he was fully on board with joining Ramattra’s side. Again, fully unique voice lines would be on the table, while players could see a Zenyatta design that aims to be even creepier than the Cultist skin. Alternatively, Blizzard could really go over-the-top with a human Zenyatta outfit, something that was rumored several years ago for the originalOverwatch.
Overwatch Moira
With Moira arguably being the most morally corrupt character that fans can play as, seeing how she would look if she never left Overwatch and kept her ambition in check could be interesting. In the Mirror Universe,it could be Mercy who goes overboardwith her research into resurrection, essentially making Zombies while Moira designs tech to fight her. Instead of a horrible scarred arm, Moira could have a device on her wrist to drain foes, while a white lab coat could accompany a different hairstyle and the removal of her eye mask.
Similar to how Moira being a hero would be an extreme change, Soldier: 76 and Reaper could flip their alignments. This time around, Jack Morrison could be jealous ofGabriel Reyes, with a vigilante version of Reaper depicted alongside an evil-looking design for Soldier.
Villain Illari
Lastly, seeing a version ofIllarithat embraces her power instead of fearing it could make for a neat skin. Perhaps in the mirror universe, she could choose to kill all her loved ones for being too strict with her training, wiping out the Inca Warriors and setting herself on a path of destruction. Illari has the potential to be the most powerful character in the series lore-wise, second to only maybe Sigma, so leaning into that with a skin that makes her appear unhinged could be exciting.

Overwatch 2 is an always-on and ever-evolving free-to-play, team-based action game set in an optimistic future, where every match is the ultimate 5v5 battlefield brawl. Power up your railgun and disrupt the battlefield as Sojourn, or yield your axe and command attention as Junker Queen. Battle to take control of a robot and move it toward the enemy base in the new Push Mode.
