You’ll want to get in the habit of visiting the general store of each new area inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Health and Flower Point-restoring items can be bought from most general stores as well as battle items, such as Thunder Bolt. There’s also a traveling merchant with a mustache to rival Mario’s named Charlieton. He appears in three areas inThousand-Year Door, and depending on where you speak to him, his wares will be different. If you’re aiming for 100% Badge Completion, then you’ll have to buy several badges from Charlieton to cap off your collection. On the downside, Charlieton’s wares can be on the expensive side, so you should familiarize yourself with what he carries and if they’re worth your hard-earned Coins.

What Should You Buy?
As stated, Charlieton’s wares are different depending on where you talk to him unless it’s in Boggly Woods. Charlieton’s known for having expensive wares, but there are several badges that are exclusive to him. Sometimes he’ll have an Ultra Mushroom or Jammin' Jelly going for 120 Coins each. If nothing catches your eye, then you’re able to change Charlieton’s inventory by walking into a different area twice (ie: screen transition).
If you’re buying from Charlieton in thePit of 100 Trials, then the price of his wares increases with every 10th floor. Despite this, it’s still a good idea to see what he has in stock if you’re running low on HP or FP. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to guarantee Charlieton’s wares in Pit of 100 Trials nor is it possible to increase the chances of him appearing.

Pit of 100 Trials
Although Charlieton’s wares increase by 50% in Pit of 100 Trials, sometimes they’re priced differently than what’s listed in the above charts. For example, Charlieton on Floor 60 may sell a regular Mushroom for 37 Coins instead of 35 Coins. This also applies to “higher-tier” items such as the Ultra Mushroom, which go for 700 Coins to 750 Coins on Floor 60. Your best option before diving into the Pit of 100 Trials is tostock up on your items somewhere else. If you’re at a high enough level, then you probablywon’t be using your itemsuntil the lower floors anyway.
One method is to buy the Ultra Mushroom and Jammin' Jelly from Charlieton in Rogueport, as they’re sold for 120 Coins. This is the cheapest you’ll find them in all ofTTYD.
