Batman: Year Onealso shows the start of the Dark Knight’s partnership with Lieutenant James Gordon, which many fans are familiar with. Gordon is already battling injustice prior to Batman’s arrival, but his battle is with the police department because they’re just as bad as the villains. Finally, this film also shows the beginning ofSelina Kyle becoming Catwoman. The original comic book has inspired otherBatmanadaptations, with certain elements being borrowed for Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knighttrilogy.

Since this film will be telling the story of Bruce Wayne’s early years as the Caped Crusader, he will be a much angrier and brutal version of the hero fans are familiar with. Because he’s younger, he’s a lot less removed from the tragedy that sparked his descent down this path, so his emotions are less in check. It’s also whyMatt Reeves’The Batmanhas a more angry, brutal, and darker Bruce Wayne who mercilessly beat up a masked assailant. Fans who haven’t seenYear Onecan expect a similar demeanor here when it comes to the portrayal of Batman.

The decorative cast includes Ben McKenzie as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Bryan Cranston as Lieutenant James Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff as Detective Sarah Essen, and the late Alex Rocco as Carmine Falcone, with Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu serving as co-directors from a script written by Academy Award nominee Tab Murphy.

DC will show footage at the upcomingDC Fandome event this October, along with many other trailers for additional upcoming DC properties such asAquaman 2, Black Adam, andShazam 2.There will also be plenty of surprises that fans will enjoy.

Batman: Year Onewill be released on DVD and Blu Ray on November 9th, 2021.
