Ben Affleck is done withBatmanat this time, but it appears Warner Bros. wants to keep their options open. According to a new rumor,The Flashfilm is going to keep the door open for Affleck’s Dark Knight to return and set up aCrisis on Infinite Earthsfilm.
Batmanwas played by Affleck in the DC Extended Universe, and some people want to see him return because his portrayal was a favorite of many viewers and fans alike. This version was brutal, aggressive, scary, jaded and lost his rule on not killing any criminals. This recent news aboutthe work started by Zack Snydernot being written out of continuity means fans would still get the same storylines that they enjoyed.

Noted leaker KC Walsh, who has provided information that turned out to be accurate in the past, noted thatThe Flashsets up aCrisis on Infinite Earthsfilm with a scene that involves Affleck’s Batman. Of course, Walsh makes sure to note that Affleck is still “very much done” with the DC Extended Universe. However, it appears this supposed scene inThe Flashis merely meant to establish that Affleck’s Batman and other characters from the Snyderverse aren’t going to be erased by the events of the Scarlet Speedster’s new film, and the door is being left open for this version of the Caped Crusader to return if possible.
Henry Cavill’s time as Superman is uncertain, Affleck is nowhere to be found intheBatgirlmovieand Ezra Miller is now in the spotlight for his recent actions during his time on vacation. DC also doesn’t keep secrets as well as Marvel Studios does. Marvel Studios has a lot of leaks, but it seems like DC’s come out much earlier, before the films even get their first trailer.
Fans have been speculating about the plot ofThe Flasheven before it’s first teaser trailer was released at the DC Fandome event. First it was Affleck’s return, thenthe leak of Supergirl, followed by the potential rebooting the timeline, and finally it’s revealed that the film will set up one of DC’sCrisisevents. Hopefully they know what they’re doing, but it’s safe to say the film is in good hands. Director Andrés Muschietti has a good track record with the horror filmsMama,ItandIt: Chapter Two.
Horror is a challenging genre to make work. However, it does show that the director has a history of making things work and make sense when it otherwise shouldn’t. This is perfect for a film about time traveling and changing history by making one choice.
