Besides Jobs, characters also fall into transitional titles such as teachers. There have been many teachers, scholars, professors, and mentors over the years inFinal Fantasy, but these examples stand out the most. No spoilers will be spilled today on the finer details of these characters, so jump in headfirst knowing that.
8Duncan
Duncan is fromFinal Fantasy 6and he has a very small role. He is Sabin’s martial arts master who showed himthe way of his Blitzes. These were special attacks that had codes behind their moves like in a fighting game. They are some of the strongest attacks in the game, making Sabin a top-tier party member.
Duncan is eluded to throughout most of the game but is never seen until the world goes into ruin. Players can then take Sabin to his old cabin and find that Duncan is still alive and strong as ever.

7Zangan
Zangan has a similar status to Duncan as he too is a martial arts master. He is fromFinal Fantasy 7and he trained Tifa how to fight with her fists. Zangan can be seen briefly in the flashback episodes wherein Cloud is reliving his life right before Sephiroth goes berserk in Nibelheim.
Zangan can be talked to and he is shown saving some people in the town fire. He is never shown facing off against Sephiroth but overall fans can presume Zangan was a strong and good teacher sinceTifa is so powerful. He does get a little more screen time in the anime short though.

6Angeal
Angeal is not directly a teacher in the series. He is fromCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, the prequel starring Zack, which leads up to the events of the main game. Zack begins the game as a rookie in training to become the best SOLDIER that Shinra has produced.

Angeal is Zack’s superior along with his mentor and helps hone his body and mind throughout the game. Zack would not be anywhere if it wasn’t for him, so Angeal fits the bill close enough to a teacher, or he at least meets the levels of both Duncan and Zangan.
5Quistis
Quistis is both a student as well as a teacher inFinal Fantasy 8. She excelled in her class so much that she was entrusted to help teach her fellow cadets, like Squall, in the game. Armed with a whip, no one would dare go against Quistis’ orders or her wit.
The game overall wasa huge departure for the franchisesince the entire thing revolves around a military academy. It was a story straight out of a 90s anime, which is not surprising since it is also a Japanese-made RPG.

4Headmaster Cid
It should come as no surprise to see more characters fromFinal Fantasy 8represented as it is a school-based RPG. There have been a lot ofversions of Cidover the years, but this edition might be his mildest. He looks like he belongs to an Ivy League school with his haircut and sweater vest.
Despite his appearance, Cid is quite capable of commanding his school, Balamb Garden. Another teacher tied directly to him is Edea, his wife, who is also the antagonist of the first half of the game.

3Maechen
Maechen is a random NPC that will appear throughoutFinal Fantasy 10. Players can first meet up with him on the Mi’ihen Highroad right after theBlitzball Tournamentarc. He is a scholar who has been studying Sin, Spira, and Summoners for ages.

His tales are long-winded and the game often asks if players wish to continue. If players do, they will be rewarded by Maechen handsomely. While he has no direct ties to the story, it is also apparent that Maechen knows more than he lets on.
2Serah
Serah is the sister of Lightning, the main character ofFinal Fantasy 13. In that game, Serah is the reason why Lightning is fighting so hard against her oppressors. Serah gets revived from her crystallized form in the end after Lightning sacrifices herself.
A couple of years pass between that game andFinal Fantasy 13-2and in this span, Serah becomes a teacher. Her teaching prowess isn’t shown long in the game until danger sweeps her up into a time-bending adventure with newcomer Noel. Still, she meets the criteria of a teacher.

1Kurasame
Kurasame is from the critically overlooked action RPG spinoff,Final Fantasy Type-0, which likeFinal Fantasy 8, is about a military school. He is the commanding officer and teacher of Class Zero. They are both secret weapons within the academy along with the troublemakers.
They aren’t quite a Suicide Squad but they are close enough and each student has a specific weapon quirk. For example, the main character, Ace, uses cards to attack enemies. Kurasame is pretty mysterious in the game, as he wears a mask, but a lot of his backstory and harrowing deeds are filled out in various spinoffs such as manga.
