While there are certainly more things to be announced or shown in both the game’s story and gameplay elements, some of the reveals this time around has opened up the door to even more speculation as to what players should expect when diving intoJedi Survivorfor the first time.

Companion Gameplay

Ever since the first reveal trailer forJedi Survivor, fans were quick to speculate whether developers had introduced companion gameplay that some fans may be familiar with in titles likeGod of War Ragnarok. With this story trailer confirmingthe return of Merrin, it has also all but confirmed the addition of companion gameplay. This was somewhat present withinJedi Survivor’s predecessor during Cal’s fight against Taron Malicos alongside the aforementioned Merrin, but was not consistent and only really present once players let off a good deal of damage.

While this does not guarantee that it will change to have companions fighting alongside players constantly and not just during finisher-like attacks, the frequency at which Respawn Entertainment has shown this in promotion forJedi Survivorsuggests it could be heavily featured. This opens up the idea of new combat strategies and perhaps even team finishers similar to Kratos and Atreus' inGod of War Ragnarok.

Potential Ship Control

Given the massive leap in graphical fidelity, performance stability, andStar Wars Jedi Survivorbeing a next-gen-only title, fans had suggested that the upcoming title could feature flight control when visiting new planets. InFallen Order, players were able to choose their destination and wait until a cutscene would come into play before finally landing. This was done in Square Enix’sGuardians of the Galaxyand while it was not a long-lasting feature, it was a pleasure to see.

Despite theJedi Survivorstory trailer not exactly revealing too much while Cal and his companions are on the ship, it would not be a stretch for fans to assume that this could very well be a feature within the game. This would be a game changer in terms of gameplay and traversal, as it has the potential to incorporate elements from otherflight-focused titlesand blend this in with the plethora of additions Respawn Entertainment developers have made.

New Planets

While fans are still yet to learn just how many additions have been made inthe region of planets inJedi Survivor, the trailer has done a great job at showcasing just how beautiful the landscape and environment of these new locations are. Considering the amount of exploration fans could find themselves in the midst of inFallen Order, it is no surprise that many have been hoping for a plethora ofnew ones to visit.

Along with potential new and unique locations, the opportunity for Respawn Entertainment to maintain what was already present in the first game and expand upon is present as this will bring everything to a full circle. Not only will this be beneficial for those who wish to travel to the same planets and find new secrets and unlockables, but it would further encourage replayability and extend the game’s runtime.

Character Interactions

Given the jump in time of five years within the story, questions in regard to where the first game’s characters would be this time around were prevalent among fans. Based on the trailer, new characters, both heroes and villains, will be joining the adventure, with some of the old characters such as Cere Junda, Greez, and Merrin all returning.

It is unknown what roles they will have in this case, but seeing Cal reconnect with them is pleasing for many. In terms of a narrative standpoint, the character interactions in Jedi Survivor will most likely be incredibly crucial given the troubling times of the Empire remaining persistent in their hunt for any remaining Jedi.

Character Models

Out of all the pleasing and impressive showcased in the story trailer, the astounding leap in graphical prowess withinJedi Survivorcompared toFallen Orderis very clear to see. The updated character models, especially within Cal Kestis, promise high levels of graphical fidelity and give a little hint closer to what fans can expect in terms of customization. It has been confirmed that players will be able to changeCal’s hairstyle allowing players to adjust the character’s look to their liking.

With a more mature and experienced Cal on display, it is fitting that developers have decided to upscale character models to a greater scale and standard, and this is indicative of other aspects of the game that have not yet been revealed, to also contain great levels of improvement.
