TheBorderlandsuniverse is filled with memorable heroes, often equipped withdeadly abilities and ruthless personalities. However, this means that on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are some not-so-impressive Vault Hunters out there.

These characters are incredibly unlikely to become Vault Hunting regulars, and it’s a miracle that some of them can even be classed as Vault Hunters in the first place. Despite this, they’re still fantastic additions to theBorderlandsuniverse - they’re just not really meant for Vault Hunting.

The Intro screen for Fiona in Tales From The Borderlands

8Fiona

Out of the core four characters inTales From The Borderlands, it’s clear that Fiona is the person who can handle herself the best. Fiona has grown up as a con artist, and has plenty of sneaky tricks up her sleeve.

Fiona has also had to learn how to survive through various hardships, and after finding her first Vault, she’s seriously ready to goexplore some more. Whilst she doesn’t currently have the same experience some of the other Vault Hunters have, it’s likely players will soon see her blossom into a more than capable Vault Hunter in the future.

Fran with gun New Tales from the Borderlands

7Fran

Fran has a bit more fighting spirit compared to her counterparts inNew Tales From The Borderlands. She isn’t exactly afraid to kill, and quite clearly has some anger issues.

Her hoverchair is equipped with plenty of different gadgets she can use to defend herself, and the player is given multiple opportunities to allow Fran to kill other characters. She’s incredibly confident, but her real passion lies withher frogurt shop- Vault Hunting isn’t exactly at the top of her priority list.

Timothy Lawrence Splashcard Borderlands 3

6Timothy Lawrence

Whilst in-game, throughoutBorderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Timothy (The Doppelganger) is easily one of themost powerful classesin theBorderlandsfranchise, his character in the lore is slightly less impressive.

Timothy is a bit of a coward and can frequently be heard apologizing to anyone he has to kill. It’s also suggested that he gets his clone to do most of the fighting for him. Timothy simply just doesn’t have the spirit of a Vault Hunter - he only took the job as Jack’s doppelganger to pay off his student debt!

Rhys Borderlands 3

5Rhys Strongfork

Players first meet Rhys inTales From The Borderlands, where he’s a low-ranking Hyperion worker. He quickly finds himself in quite the mess and somehow finds himself becoming a Vault Hunter.

However, it’s quite remarkable how he made it to the Vault in the first place - various scenes throughout the game show that Rhys isn’t built for the Vault Hunter life. He struggles to strange a bandit, and is incredibly grossed out by the slightest bit of gore. Poor Rhys is far better suited to hisnew CEO lifestyle- he probably isn’t looking to take up the Vault Hunter title again any time soon.

Vaughn Bandit Leader Tales From The Borderlands Main Games Tie Ins

4Vaughn

At the beginning ofTales From The Borderlands, it’s possible that Vaughn is the worst Vault Hunter of the bunch. However, players soon see him bloom and embrace the life of a bandit on Pandora.

He becomes the leader of his own group and clearly has developed some sort of combat experience and fighting spirit to survive. Although, he’s still not quite there, as players have to rescue him towards the beginning ofBorderlands 3. It’s unknown whether Vaughn would be interested in hunting for more Vaults, ashe seems quite happywith his newfound bandit life.

Sasha Tales From The Borderlands

3Sasha

From the beginning of Tales From The Borderlands, it’s clear that Sasha ismore than capableof handling herself - she has experience working with guns but can also defend herself unarmed pretty well.

However, whilst she’s incredibly tough, she only seems to want to fight when she has to. It’s not very likely that she’d purposefully go looking for a fight, and whilst she can handle herself against smaller foes, she might struggle against Vault Monsters.

2Octavio

Octavio is incredibly street smart - he’s a wannabe thief and has plenty of gadgets and hacks at his disposal to gather to dirt of anyone he’d like. However, his combat experience and willingness to fightare pretty lacking.

Faring against any of the other Vault Hunters, Octavio would quickly find himself shut down. He was able to outrun a Vault Monster on Promethea, but that was thanks to his sister’s and Fran’s planning. Realistically, Octavio doesn’t stand much of a chance in the Vault Hunting profession and should leave it to the professionals.

new-tales-from-the-borderlands-anu-cage

1Anu

Anu’s character clearly wasn’t meant for Vault Hunting - she’s completely opposed to violence and will collapse into a panic attack at the first sign of things going hectic. Throughout the events ofNew Tales From The Borderlands, she appears to get by through sheer luck alone.

At one point in the game, she doesfind herself possessedby the spirit of the shard, however, her body is simply used as a vessel - this isn’t her power or thoughts. It’s unlikely that Anu will find herself searching for Vaults again and probably has no desire to, either.
