Summary
According to a new leak,Call of Duty: Warzonewill be bringing back the popular Verdansk battle royale map at the end of 2024. Verdansk was the first-ever map featured inCall of Duty: Warzone, and it proved to be a huge hit. Significant changes were made to Verdansk over time, and eventually, the map was completely replaced by the Caldera map, which was significantly less popular.
Eventually, the decision was made to scrap Caldera and focus entirely on the newWarzoneexperience, previously referred to asCall of Duty: Warzone 2.0, whichdebuted with the Al Mazrah map. While many fans were anxious for new experiences inCall of Duty: Warzone, many others were sad to see Verdansk go, and have been calling for its return ever since. Now it seems those fans will be getting their wish, as a new leak suggestsCall of Duty: Warzoneis bringing Verdansk back.

According to areport by Insider-Gaming,Call of Duty: Warzoneis bringing Verdansk back as part of Season 1 for the upcoming 2024Call of Dutygame, currently known asCall of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War. The 2024Call of Dutygame has not been officially revealed at the time of this writing and Activision has not actually confirmed Verdansk is coming back, so fans should take this information with a grain of salt, but Insider-Gaming is known for its reliableCoDscoops.
Assuming the report is accurate, fans can expect Verdansk to come back toCall of Duty: Warzonein December 2024. Typically, thenewCall of Dutyseasonsstart in December of each year, and there’s no reason to assume that the 2024Call of Dutywill be any different.

If Verdansk does come back toCall of Duty: Warzone, one has to wonder what will happen to the game’s current map,Urzikstan. While Caldera was a huge misfire forWarzoneand Al Mazrah wasn’t particularly popular either, it seems that many fans like the new Urzikstan map and so some may be sad to see it removed. It’s possible Verdansk and Urzikstan will exist inCall of Duty: Warzoneat the same time, though typically the large-sized battle royale maps have replaced the existing ones inWarzone.
For manyCall of Dutyfans, Verdansk’s eventual return has always been a matter of “when” and not “if.” After all, Activision is clearly aware of Verdansk’s popularity, hence the decision to release theupcomingWarzone Mobilewith Verdansk. The huge successFortniterecently enjoyed by bringing back its original battle royale map only made Verdansk’s return even more likely, as it’s a strategy proven to bring lapsed fans back into the fold.
