Why Is Verdansk So Special?
Verdansk is a major city in Kastovia, a fictional country supposedly in the Soviet Union that was first seen in theCall of Duty Modern Warfare. It also served as the main setting for special ops operations and Ground War maps inModern Warfare. Verdansk was the primary map inCall of Duty: Warzoneand was replaced byVerdansk ‘84 in Season Three ofCall Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
With the coming of the new Caldera map, gamers like Swagg have commented with their views on the newWarzonemapand how it compares to the old Verdansk map. While watching a world-record Caldera map gameplay, he said that Verdansk had a higher level of difficulty when it came to tactics and playing styles due to the plethora of different spots and buildings. In contrast, Caldera is more open and has a kind of monotonicity about it, which was absent in Verdansk. Verdansk had tons of different architecture, each offering its own fighting scene and difficulties, thus attributing to a much more challenging and fun gaming experience.

Swagg points out that the Caldera map is more open and has the same kind of environments all around the map which leads to similar fighting scenarios no matter your position on the map.The Caldera map has received much love fromCall of Dutyfans, but many players want the Verdansk map to remain in the game.
A Heart-Warming Poem And Many Tribute Videos
Going through the officialCall of Dutysubreddit, it was hard to not lay eyes on a heartfelt poem in tribute to the old Verdansk map that perfectly summed up fans' feelings about the legendary map in one place. In “Ode to Verdansk,” Redditor Liam_Foster4 bids their farewell to the map with a brilliant poem. It talks about howCall Of Duty: Warzoneacted as an exit from the harsh pandemic-struck reality for many gamers, and a way to enjoy life while staying at home during the lockdown. In fact, one of the top comments on this post was a man stating thatCall of Duty: Warzonehelped him get through lifewhen he first lost his job. Just like this, many people found an exit from their tough lives during the peak of this pandemic and Verdansk had a big part in this.
Bidding a farewell to this amazing map, it’s hard not to get nostalgic about the moments, epic wins and some absurd losses due to some team member who got disconnected at critical moments. With the removal ofVerdansk map and the Last Hours Of Verdansk event, it is unlikely that the map will be brought back in future seasons.

Are Fans Happy With The Call of Duty Map Update?
This is where it gets tough for Activision Blizzard as fans have not been tooenthusiastic about the Caldera map due to the sheer number of bugs and glitchesthat most have faced while playing in it. Many players have complained about repeated server disconnection during games or a glitch that didn’t allow them to melee anyone in Battle Royale.
Due to so many bugs with the new map, many players have now signed a petition on Change.org asking Raven Software to bring back Verdansk while keeping the Caldera map. One player recommended putting all three maps in the game with different weapon choices in every map by givingMWweapons in Verdansk,Cold Warweapons in 80s Verdansk, andVanguardweapons in the new Caldera map. It will be interesting ifCall of Dutyactually incorporates this idea and gives the players different playing maps likecurrently available inCall of Duty: Mobile. To sum it up, the Verdansk map holds a special place in everyWarzoneplayer’s heart purely because of its immense amount of buildings and fight sequences and two years of immense joy.
