Capcom has said it’s aware of serious crashes while trying to play the PC version ofResident Evil 8since a recent update and ensures everyone that the issue is being looked into. With theShadows of RoseDLC close to releasing, theREseries is flying high and has been since the seventh installment launched in 2017, breathing new life into the franchise and helping to bring it back to its horror roots. As well as the new content forRE8, fans can also look forward to a showcase that’s happening at some point.Recently,Capcom teased theResident Evilevent, which at the time did not have a set date and was simply coming “soon” but has since been revealed to be airing on October 20. The showcase is an opportunity for the studio to delve into some details about the Gold Edition ofRE8, which is coming October 28, as well as cover the upcoming remake ofResident Evil 4that’s due to launch on June 17, 2025. Capcom posted on Twitter, saying the company is aware of the problem and apologizing to anyone who has experienced the crashes. The tweet also says that the studio is looking to fix the issue, though there’s no indication of when a patch may be inbound. In the meantime, a report from Kotaku points to a workaround from Steam user FluffyQuack. So that should offer a temporary solution while the developer works on a more permanent one.

Helping to define the survival horror genre, the originalResident Evilhas been a flagship release for Capcom since the mid-90s. While the series had something of a lull with the fifth and sixth entries, the previous four are considered classics, while the two newer releases, includingVillage, show there’s still life left in this franchise.
