After such a revelation, a distraught Leon Belmont refuses Mathias’ offer to join him, steels his resolve, and swears thathis bloodline will rid evilfrom this generation to the next. This, effectively, starts the seemingly endless strife between Dracula and the Belmont clan.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadowis a self-contained reboot of the franchise that sees Gabriel Belmont, a member of the Brotherhood of Light,succumbing to the corruptionof the Devil Mask put on him by Zobek and becoming Dracula. After killing his beloved Marie, Gabriel tracks down and confronts The Forgotten One in Bernhard Castle. Before the fight begins, the Forgotten One boasts of his power, but Gabriel has had enough of his prattling and utters the all-too-familiar phrase.
As their battle ends, Gabriel stands victorious against The Forgotten One. Before he lands the final blow, Gabriel arrogantly has The Forgotten One beg for mercy as Gabriel absorbs the power of his fallen enemy onto himself. Fans of the Castlevania games know that this is Dracula’s iconic words he shouted before battling Richter Belmont in the subsequent titles.
Netflix’sCastlevaniaseries dives deep intohow Dracula became evilin its first season. It turns out that Vlad Tepes in his early life happened to meet Lisa, a doctor-in-training who stumbled upon his castle. Initially distrustful of humans, Vlad eventually warmed up to Lisa, and eventually, they grew to love each other.
However, their love is short-lived: upon returning from his travels, Vlad returns home to Lisa’s cottage that was burnt down. He is notified that Lisa was arrested for witchcraft and is sentenced to burn at the stake. Upon arriving at Lisa’s execution, Vlad becomes Dracula once again and warns the townsfolk that he’ll amass an army for a year, and he will return for his revenge.
After one year, Dracula indeed returns to Wallachia, and it seemed that his warning fell on deaf ears. He then unleashes all manner of terrible monsters and other night creatures to decimate Wallachia and its denizens: no man, woman, or child is safe from Dracula’s wrath.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Nightis considered by many asthe best Castlevania gameto date. As a sequel to Rondo of Blood, the game begins with the climactic battle between Richter Belmont and Dracula.
Before the ensuing fight, players are treated to the iconic exchange between the last of the Belmont clan and the Lord of Darkness. Richter begins with a cheesy dialogue, saying that Dracula is a monster who doesn’t belong in this world. After a few verbal exchanges, Dracula gets fed up with Richter’s prattle: he throws away a glass at the feet of his throne, shattering it as he utters the iconic phrase. This then proceeds to the epic battle between Richter and Dracula where the players control Richter, hoping to vanquish the Lord of Darkness once and for all.
