While Nintendo fans got a newPokemonrelease just a few weeks ago inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, there’s yet another one on the horizon. Later this month,Pokemon Legends: Arceuswill release and change the formula fans have been used to for decades now. However, Nintendo hasn’t shown that much ofArceus, despite how close it is. A new commercial has shed a bit more light on the project, though.
It isn’t uncommon for Nintendo to release ads featuring notable celebrities. In 2020, Nintendo did a series ofSwitch commercials featuring Brie Larson, who portrays Captain Marvel in the MCU. Now, however, Nintendo has created ads featuring Christina Aguilera, the singer-songwriter known for hits likeGenie in a Bottle.A recently released ad includes Aguilera and her family bonding over a Nintendo Switch OLED.

ButPokemon Legends: Arceusisn’t the only game to be featured in the trailer. Aguilera and her kids also playAmong UsandMario Karttogether, highlighting the different ways that users can enjoy the Switch with families. At the end of the day, it’s just another ad for Nintendo’s hardware, though it does have a certain appeal to it that other console commercials lack.
There are just a few more weeks before fans can get their hands onPokemon Legends: Arceus. The RPG will put players in the shoes of the first Pokemon trainer, seeing them use rudimentary versions of the Poke Balls and other items that fans of the franchise are familiar with. It’s a departure for the series, but one that it might need to keep things feeling fresh. That being said, some fans were hoping for an open-world experience instead.
Regardless, Nintendo’s ads have been an interesting distraction. While the Switch supply is being negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the console is still selling well. In fact, the Switch is on track to outsell the Wii, which would be a massive accomplishment for the hybrid device, as the Wii is one of themost popular consoles of all time.
Pokemon Legends: Arceusreleases January 28 for Switch.
