The Pokemon Companyis no stranger to collaborating with world-renowned fashion brands. The company has worked with a variety of brands over the years, releasingPokemon branded clothes and shoes ranging from sportswearto casual dress clothing. Pokemon clothing merchandise has become a key focus of the brand’s marketing along with its toys, plushies, and other items that have spawned from the video game, anime, and trading card game. The latest collaboration will see the Pokemon brand partner with one of the world’s longest-running shoe companies to release various styles of footwear for kids and adults.
The iconic shoe brand Clarks announced that it will begin sellingPokemonfootwear for both kids and adults. The company announced the partnership earlier this week and the shoes are now available on the Clarks website, with a catch. The availability of the Pokemon-branded kids' shoes seems to be limited to the UK or European website, while the adult shoes seem to be available on the United States site and, presumably, worldwide.

The Clarks Kids Pokemon collection comes in 18 different styles. The “School” shoe category just has Pikachu and Pokemon branding in all black that are probably meant to fall in line with some UK schools' uniform policies. Others mix inmore colorful designs of Pikachu, Squirtle, and Mewtwo for the kids' daily sneakers for out-of-school activities. There is a listing for the black suede kids size Wallabee boot, but that is listed as coming soon and has no projected release date.
The adult shoes are the Clarks Wallabee boot style shoes that have become a popular fashion style that other companies often mimic or alter with their own signature flair. The Clarks x Pokemon Wallabees featurePikachu designsfor its suede boot: Pikachu’s signature yellow and a black shoe with Pikachus around it in a more sly way thanks to the material. There is set to be another variant to the Wallabee boot, the Wallabee Mist that has a lower cut at the ankle, scheduled to release in the future.
The adult shoes can go well either alone or as part of a largerPokemon branded outfitwith the various articles of clothing already on offer by The Pokemon Company through The Pokemon Center or other clothing partners. The Pokemon brand is strong and the merchandise game is stronger. Adding a new merchandise line ahead of the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetis a shrewd move by the company looking to capitalize on the anticipated hype of the game.
