The BrayTech Osprey is a returning weapon fromDestiny 2’spast that’s been refitted with a new set of perks befitting the modern sandbox. As a Nightfall-exclusive weapon, it has some solid perk combos that let it compete with the best guns in its class.

As with all weapons inDestiny 2,players will want to get a god roll of the BrayTech Osprey if they want to use it in high-level content. This rocket launcher’s perk pool is small, and everything in it is good enough for general play. However, it does have some specific combos that make it feel truly special.

BrayTech Osprey God Rolls

The BrayTech Osprey is a High-Impact Frame Rocket Launcher. It fires and delivers its payloads slower than Precision and Hakke Rocket Launcher frames, but it compensates for those with its higher damage profile on direct hits. This archetype is best used inDPS phases against bosses, but the BrayTech Osprey in particular has perk combos that make it very effective in clearing groups of enemies as well.

Lasting Impression

Smart Drift Control

At a glance, an experienced player would be able to tell that almost every Trait for the BrayTech Osprey is great for boss damage, while few are better suited for crowd control. God rolls for these roles would be:

The single-target god roll deals774,242 damage over eight rocketsagainst powerful combatants, bosses, and vehicles as per the damage numbers available atD2Foundry. This is the most damage players can get deal using as little ammunition as possible. However, there is a case to be made withBipod,as that perk bumps the Osprey’s max reserves to 13, resulting in792,780 total damage.

Bipod as a single-target DPS perk is best used against bosses with large hitboxes and long vulnerability windows — preferably, ones that are vulnerable for long enough that players can unload all their rockets. Reload speed buffs help improve this perk’s effectiveness significantly in this regard, though the same can be saidwith other rocket launchersusing different perk combos.

Incidentally, Bipod is also great for clearing groups if paired withCluster Bomb. The latter negates the BrayTech Osprey’s low base blast radius, while the former gives players one extra rocket to deal massive AOE damage. The same logic applies to Envious Assassin and Chain Reaction, though this combo deals more direct damage.

Pulse Monitoris worth mentioning as players can trigger it with self-damage from their explosions, resulting in instant reloads. However, this requires careful positioning, a Well of Radiance, and a stationary target to be used effectively.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
