Destiny 2is currently one of the biggest video games on the market and also one of the most played, which is an incredible achievement after a rocky launch and content draught all the way back in 2017. Ever since the first big yearly expansion, Forsaken,Destiny 2became a much better version of itself, and players were more content with the state of the game and excited to see what would come after. The storyline evolved even further with the expansions that came after Forsaken, namely Shadowkeep and Beyond Light, and it seems like The Witch Queen will beDestiny 2’s most ambitious DLC to date.
The upcoming expansion sees Savathun steal the Traveler’s Light for herself and her Hive, with Hive Guardians becoming a new enemy type inDestiny 2. There is also going to be a new weapon archetype in the form of the glaive, a sort of spear that is capable of shooting projectiles, which is the perfect weapon for the space magic lore ofDestiny 2. With everything coming to the game in February, including a Raid, newExotics, and dungeons, players are very keen on seeing what the expansion is all about.

However, lately, the community has been debating overDestiny 2’s The Witch Queenprice tag and what sort of content comes with the standard edition, the deluxe edition, and Season passes. The discussion started with a Reddit post from a user by the name of Starlord070804, who shared a method to save $0.04 by buying the standard edition of the expansion and all four Season passes to get access to the remaining content. While this is doable, the post got enough attention from the community that players clarified how the deluxe edition grants access to Year 5 dungeons, while the standard one doesn’t.
The mix-up stems from Bungie’s initial wording after the announcement for The Witch Queen, stating that the deluxe edition would grant access to the dungeons, and players could upgrade to the deluxe editions at a later time. This led someDestiny 2playersto believe that the dungeons will be locked behind another paywall for those who purchase Season passes separately, even though Bungie never stated as much. Still, with a price tag of $79.99 for the deluxe edition or $79.95 for the standard edition and Season passes, players expect that the dungeons won’t be a separate purchase.
With the30th Anniversary Packdrawing closer, players are afraid that it might be a test to see how the community responds to dungeons being sold as standalone content rather than included with Seasons. This is not outside of the realm of possibility, but ultimately players should wait for Bungie’s official statements nearing the release of the expansion.
