Destiny 2’s The Final Shape is already in its post-launch phase, with most of its content coming from the Echoes Episode, even though the Pale Heart and the various TFS activities and game modes remain worth playing now and in the future. As it stands,The Final Shape isDestiny 2’s best releaseever, with the DLC topping the charts with reviews for the whole year of video game launches, let aloneDestinyexpansions. A good chunk of the merit goes to storytelling, visual design for the Pale Heart, the new Salvation’s Edge Raid, and a lot of good changes to the sandbox and gameplay as a whole.
It wouldn’t be a bigDestiny 2DLC without a handful of new Exotic weapons and armor pieces, and The Final Shape delivered quite a lot of good ones. There are 15 new Exotic items in The Final Shape, not counting the Tessellation Exotic fusion rifle since it came out as a pre-order bonus way before the DLC’s release. Of these 15 new Exotics, several are great and have a lot of staying power in Guardians' arsenals, but not all of them are equally viable or strong, with the rankings changing dramatically between PvE and PvP.
This tier list is mainly focused on the PvE aspect of the new Exotic.
This Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotic tier list doesn’t consider the three new Exotic class items - Essentialism for Hunters, Solipsism for Warlocks, and Stoicism for Titans. This is because it’s virtually impossible to place Exotic class items on a tier list without considering all the available rolls, with some being amazing and others being subpar.
S Tier - New Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotic Items
Euphony is the new Raid Exotic forDestiny 2’s The Final Shape, and though it may seem a strange gun to use in non-Warlock, non-Strand builds, it can still dish out high single-target damage with its three-burst shots and Threadlings, and it’s also a Special weapon. Still, it’s very much a top pick on Prismatic Warlock using an Exotic class item with a roll like Spirit of Apotheosis and Spirit of Star-Eater for more Super damage with Needlestorm followed by Threadling Greande spam thanks to Apotheosis.
While the newExotic mission to getDestiny 2’s Khvostov 7G-0Xis a bit hit-or-miss due to how long and repetitive it can be, the weapon itself is really good across the board and it can be one of the best for solo content due to its add-clearing capabilities. Microcosm is on the same boat, as it deals massive damage to all enemies and it can be used to dispose of adds quickly or for boss DPS, which it excels at.
Speaker’s Sight is one of the newDestiny 2Warlock Exotics for The Final Shape, and it’s rapidly making waves in endgame content due to how much it increases survivability for the whole team while also generating incredible numbers of Orbs of Power. Last but not least, Still Hunt is probably the most broken Exotic in the DLC given how strong it is on its own and how much better it becomes when used by Hunters with the Celestial Nighthawk Exotic helmet, essentially becoming a one-shot Golden Gun that’s incredible for boss DPS and destroys enemies like Champions and mini-bosses.
A Tier - New Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotic Items
While Ergo Sum also has random rolls and perks like the Exotic Class items, it is easier to classify as a good Exotic overall because most of the rolls are good or fill unique niches, but more importantly, it’s the first-ever Special ammo sword in the game. For example, one ofErgo Sum’s rolls is Wolfpack Rounds, which gives the equivalent of Gjallarhorn extra missile rounds to all swords, which makes for great boss damage in some encounters.
Gifted Conviction is one of thebestDestiny 2Hunter Exoticsout there because of its incredible synergy with Prismatic and how much damage reduction it grants when Jolting targets, but right now it’s seeing more usage than it may enjoy in Episode 2 and beyond due to the Galvanic Armor perk on the Seasonal Artifact. Hazardous Propulsion is a great Titan Exotic that can help the class a lot for boss DPS, which is typically lacking unless the enemy can be hit by melee abilities, and it can be even stronger in future releases where rocket launchers and rocket sidearms get dedicated perks on the Seasonal Artifact.
Mataiodoxia is the second Warlock Exotic in The Final Shape, but it’s still a very solid pick for endgame content and mid-range play as well given that it makes Arcane Needle intrinsically Anti-Barrier and creates suspending bursts when killing an enemy with Arcane Needle or using all three of its charges. The problem with Mataiodoxia is that it’s not the best Exotic onStrand Warlock buildsinDestiny 2, and Prismatic has a much longer cooldown for Arcane Needle at base.
Lastly, Wishful Ignorance is another good Titan Exotic that has very little reason to be used on Prismatic, but it excels at dealing incredible damage from a distance with Flechette Storm on Strand. If Bungie’s changes toPrismatic add new Aspects toDestiny 2’s new subclassesand Titans get Flechette Storm, it could be all the more powerful combined with Knockout. For now, however, this armor piece is great for boss damage from afar, and it gets progressively better with more players.
B Tier - New Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotic Items
While Balance of Power is a very powerful Hunter Exotic inDestiny 2’s Crucible game modes, it only has niche uses in PvE due to other items being much better overall for all types of content. On the same boat isDestiny 2’s Red Death Reformed, which has high usage rates in PvP thanks to its recoil pattern and ability to heal the wielder on kills, but it can be lackluster in PvE due to subclasses typically benefitting from other healing sources and needing more AoE damage for add-clear or single-target damage for bosses on Exotic Primaries.
