When the name ofDestiny 2Season 10 first leaked asSeason of the Worthy, many members of the fan base began speculating as to what that could mean. While past Seasons ofDestiny 2have not featured a direct correlation between their name and the content, most expect that Season of the Worthy directly references an individual’s efforts to prove their worth. The only question is who that person might be.
A new theory shared by Commander_Prime on Reddit suggests that the focus of Season of the Worthy will be on proving the Warmind Rasputin is worthy to the Vanguard and the Guardians at large. Because Rasputin is such a valuable entity in theDestiny 2world, this theory suggests that Rasputin is necessary to push back the darkness but the Warmind has also made some questionable choices in the past.

Using the Grimoire Card “Ghost Fragment: Mysteries” and the Warmind prequel comic, Commander_Prime contradicts the competing theory that it will be the players’ Guardians that will need to prove their worth to Rasputin. According to those texts, thedefeat of Xol in the Warmind campaignalready proved that Guardians are worthy of Rasputin’s respect and so it wouldn’t make sense for them to have to do it again.
As part of the Warmind campaign, players brought Rasputin back into the fold, even though the Warmind has a checked past. But while Rasputin’s utility was shortsighted, it may have a bigger purpose if thetriangle ships and the Darknessare to return in a futureDestiny 2Season. There are bound to be those with reservations, though, and this could set up the idea of Rasputin proving it is worthy.
Of course, this is just a theory even if there is some evidence inDestiny 2’s history to support it. With the name Season of the Worthy and the rumored return of Trials of Osiris, many members of the community believe that the centralfocus of Season 10 will be on reaching the Lighthousein the fan favorite PvP mode. It has been suggested that “becoming worthy” will be the equivalent of going flawless in Trials’ past and will allow entry into the Lighthouse to collect rewards.
Regardless of how Season of the Worthy makes use of its namesake, there is a lot of mystery surrounding the upcomingDestiny 2content. While past seasons have featured some hints about what is to come, this latest has only been revealed through leaks and datamines. Perhaps onceEmpyrean Foundationis complete, Bungie will offer more info about Season of the Worthy.
