Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. In addition, a newupdate has made a number of tweaks to theDestiny 2experience, which aim to benefit the player. Not only has Bungie made further reductions to the commendation requirements related to rank progression, but overall difficulty has been reduced in a variety of activities including legendary lost sectors, Nightfalls, and more.
The community continues to look for ways to gain an advantage over Destiny 2 including using Strand to find new ways to traverse maps. Intentional or not, players have also discovered new ways to break activities including the latest one that essentially gives theexotic SMG Osteo Striga infinite damageusing the poison effect and a Strand melee ability. Considering how fast it can melt bosses, players can be sure that Bungie will be moving swiftly to get the bug resolved.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur has made a return to the world ofDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of August 01, 2025.

Where is Xur?
This weekend, players can track Xur back inside the European Dead Zone in his usual spot overlooking the Winding Cove.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor
Apotheosis Veil - Warlock helmet
Apotheosis Veil is still an alright support exotic that isn’t dependent on subclass. It comes with the exotic perk Insatiable, which immediately regenerates the player’s health, melee, grenade, and rift energy when activating their super. Nearby allies also recharge class abilities faster as well.
It’s likely not great in all situations, but it could come in handy when playing difficult activities or even in competitive PvP modes. It may not replace the standard go to exotics for Warlocks, but could be worth a look for some players. The roll this week is pretty solid overall, with high stats on things like Recovery and Intellect.

Stat Values (65 Total):
Gwisin Vest - Hunter chest armor
The Spectral Blades specific exotic Gwisin Vest is back. With the perk Roving Assassin, each spectral blade kill lets the player vanish and gain more super energy when the super is active, making it last longer than normal.

Considering the benefits of this exotic gear, it is a solid choice for Nightstalker Spectral Blade hunters, even if there may be much better exotic choices at this point in the game’s life. The roll is solid this week at a 64, offering good Mobility, Resilience, and Strength. It’s certainly not a must own, unless the player is a very specific Spectral Blade user.
Stat Values (64 Total):
One-Eyed Mask - Titan helmet
At one point, this was the go-to exotic for all things PvP and Crucible related for Titans. In fact, it quickly became a scourge for Hunter and Warlock classes, so much so, thatBungie ultimately nerfed the popular One-Eyed Maskmaking it not quite as effective as it once was. While it may not be the monster it once was, it’s still a solid pickup even with a stat roll that doesn’t make a ton of sense for Titans.
The reason this item is a great Crucible item is due to its perk Vengeance. Any enemy that damages the wearer becomes highlighted and if the player can kill the marked player, they get an overshield. While this item has the highest roll this week, it has a disapprovingly high roll of mobility, something which isn’t incredibly important to Titan players.

Stat Values (66 total):
Exotic Weapon
Twice in the same month, the Trinity Ghoul is back on sale for those who may have missed it. At this point, not much has changed, though it is still a very strong option. This electrically-charged bow fires an arrow that splits into three parts thanks to its perk, Split Electron. When the player aims down the sights and draws the bow all the way back, the arrow spread decreases. However, scoring a headshot will charge the next fired arrow to chain electricity between enemies close to each other. It’s generally a fun bow to use in any mode, though it really shines in PvE modes where the chain attacks have more opportunity to happen.
Even though players have plenty of strong bow options like Le Monarque,Trinity Ghoul and its powerful catalystare certainly worth grabbing this week for those that don’t have it.
Additional perks:
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions,Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
