An easy strategy allows anElden Ringplayer to dominate the difficult Draconic Tree Sentinel boss.Elden Ringis full of bosses, many of them well-known online for infuriating gamers with their difficult move sets to dodge. While there are the more major bosses, such as Malenia and Radahn, sometimes it’s the more minor bosses that can cause a player trouble. Whether it’s due to a different play style that the player isn’t used to, or a mistake stat point placement, it’s not unusual to find oneself at an impasse with any of the hundreds of bosses inElden Ring.
The Tree Sentinel will most likely be one of the first actual bosses a player will go up against inElden Ring, being placed in front of the player as soon as they exit out into the open world. They are difficult already, especially for first time players who are bombarded by their heavy-hitting attacks and stomping the player with thehorse that the Tree Sentinel rides upon, but there’s another version later in the game known as the Draconic Tree Sentinel. What sets them apart from their counterparts is the fact that they wield the powerful draconic magic, adding more ranged attacks to their melee-based moves.

One player was having some trouble with one of the Draconic Tree Sentinels, specifically the one that guards the city of Leyndell which the player must take out either them or Fia’s Champions in order to enter it. That’s where this player came across a specific strategy that they posted a video of to Reddit. User Popopooki uploaded a video showing them using spells and the Ash of War Carian Retaliation, which dispels incoming magics and turns them into swords that shoot themselves back at the sender, a good parry against the Draconic Tree Sentinel’s attacks. Where it takes some playerssix hours to take down one ofElden Ring’s Tree Sentinels, turning to Ashes of War for help can be fruitful.
While some in the comments praised the player for their use of the Ash of War, others pointed out that the player has quite low health for taking on such a tough enemy.Vigor is an important stat inElden Ringand determine if a player wins or not, so it’s important to level it up whenever possible.
Despite the low vigor the player has, the amount of tools at one’s disposal inElden Ringallows for many players to experiment, see if certain builds are viable for a full playthrough. Ashes of War is one such tool, andgood utilization of an Ash of War can lead to victory against invaders, groups of enemies, and even some ofElden Ring’s toughest bosses. If one comes across failure, it’s always prudent to see if other avenues are possible.
