OneElden Ringplayer decides to use the sit emote at just the right time to avoid a dangerous attack heading their way.Elden Ringis a game full of surprises, so much so that being prepared for just about anything, likeElden Ring’s hardest boss Malenia having a second phase, is what makes or breaks one person living through the dangers of The Lands Between. However, players can hit a button that is just so perfectly timed to avoid and parry projectiles or heavy-hitting attacks that it seems like luck is on their side.
Emotes have always been a part of FromSoftware’s souls-likes. While just one way a player can express themselves in the throes of the game’s PvP modes, it can also have some surprising practical effects. There are stories of players utilizing emotes in the midst of a battle to dodge an attack, like one player whomanaged to dodge most of Malenia’s attacks by just using an emote. Of course, this is due to the fact that a player’s hitbox is lowered to that of the emote, allowing them to dodge attacks, but it does make things funnier when it’s all thanks to the fact that they used the Balled-Up emote.

Luckily one player’s hitbox was just low enough to avoid some incoming projectiles as they tried to sit down and relax. Posting to r/Eldenring, user DrwGamer uploaded a video of them at some ruins inElden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes. As they climb the destroyed roof of a building, they decide to relax and sit down at the top, only for them to turn the camera around and watch as a volley of sorceries goes flying over their head, missing by mere inches.
Liurnia of the Lakes is a fairly perilous area, especially when one player delves into the area’s swamp, which is filled with many enemies that can hurl projectiles, like theElden Ringlobsters that can also jump atop treesto snipe players. Finding a place to actually relax besides a Site of Grace is rather difficult due to the area’s amount of dangers.
However, this is just one lucky player who managed to sit at just the right time. While emotes can sometimes have practical uses, they will never be a genuine way to dodge attacks, as they are mostly meant for players to express themselves liketwoElden Ringplayers simultaneously using the Rapture emote after beating Malenia. While some players will get lucky with their emote usage, the tried and true parries and dodges will always win out.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
