FromSoftware has developed some incredible titles and anticipation has been building for the upcoming release ofElden Ring. Many fans of the developer are hoping thatElden Ringwill match the quality ofthe critically acclaimedDark Soulsseriesand thematically the upcoming title seems to tread similar ground. There now seems to be bad news on the horizon for fans who were expectingElden Ringto arrive soon as rumors begin to circulate about a significantly later release date.

Elden Ringwas announced with a teaser trailer at E3 2019, and it gave plans plenty to be excited about. Not only was the trailer visually impressive but it also revealed that the game was written by the creative mind behind theDark SoulsandBloodbornegames, Hidetaka Miyazaki, as well as George R.R. Martin who wrote the Game of Thrones series. With these creators attached to the game alongside an impressive trailer, players began to expect an epic fantasy game that incorporates gameplay elements that are regularly found in the work of Miyazaki.

Unfortunately, it seems that further announcements aboutElden Ringmay not be coming soon. The former Game Informer senior editor, Imran Khan, announced that fans of From Software would have “a lot of reasons to be happy in the next two years.” A fellow Twitter user responded to the given time frame and Khan offered more clarity although it may not please fans. The reporter replied, “Things that people think are hitting 2020 might not hit 2020 or even be shown in 2020.” It is unclear what title this is specifically referring to, but given that theBloodbornePC portwill likely be significantly less work than a new IP, many fans believe that they will have to wait a little while longer for more information about the upcomingElden Ring.

Players still seem to be excited aboutElden Ring, although many will be anxious to find out more about the upcoming game that looks set to be a significant release in the fantasy genre. FromSoftware has an incredible track record of releasing quality games and for some, and that will likely be enough to sustain interest in a title. With that said, many fans would like more details about the upcoming project.

On one hand, fans will be pleased that FromSoftware will deliver content for the next two years. However, the order of pleasing releases may be a concern for the fan base. It is unclearwhyElden Ringmay be pushed back, but many players will not mind as long as the title is worth the wait.

Elden Ringis in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions also rumored to be in production.
