Stormveil Castle is the home of anElden RingShardbearer called Godrick the Grafted. Godrick can be found in the northern section of the building. Before meeting him, players should go throughStormveil Castleand maybe collect items along the way. The recommended level to fight Godrick is between 30 and 40, as there are plenty of mini-bosses and strong foes in this Legacy Dungeon.

Unfortunately, Tarnished aren’t allowed to use Torrent, the Spirit Horse, while exploring Stormveil Castle inElden Ring. But luckily, there are a few tips players can utilize to complete the Castle.
Updated on June 23, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah:Stormveil Castle serves as a key location for every Tarnished, as it grants them many useful items that’ll help in the journey of becoming the Elden Lord. Players can getbetter equipment and Elden Ring Armor,as well as save up some Runes to be able to level up. The castle is located in Limgrave, which is the first area Elden Ring players get thrown into after finishing the tutorial boss. However, it’s important to first clear out Margit the Fell Omen, who’s blocking Stormveil’s gate, or Tarnished can follow a simple method to skip the whole castle altogether.

10Collect The Rancorcall Spell
The Rancorall Spell is one of the five Death Sorceries that requires both Intelligence and Faith to work properly. Additionally, casting this particularElden RingSpellwhile using the Prince of Death’s Staff can boost its damage. The Spell can be obtained by killing a Teardrop Scarab found in the underground levels of Stormveil Castle.
Getting to it is quite the challenge as it requires many steps:

9Level Up Spirit Ashes
While exploring Stormveil Castle, players will encounter hordes of enemies that inflict heavy damage. Fortunately, it ispossible to summonElden RingSpirit Ashes to aid players in most fights. The ashes are used as a distraction, so Tarnished may fight the monsters in small quantities. To do this, it’s crucial to speak withRoderikain Stormhill Shack.
Roderika plays a huge role in this step as she gives Tarnished theSpirit Jellyfish Ashesand, later on, becomes a Spirit Tuner at the Roundtable Hold. Basically, Roderika requests Grave or Ghost Glovewort to level up players’ Spirit Ashes, so they can inflict more damage.

8Make Sure To Grab The Shabriri Grape For Hyetta’s Quest
Upon defeating Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle, the locked section behind him becomes accessible. Players can only find one item inside this building before activating the next Site of Lost Grace. The item is theShabriri Grape, which is used in Hyetta’s questline.
Lightseeking Hyetta is a blind, mysterious woman that roams the Lands Between in search of distant light. The Finger Maiden can only “feel” the distant light if she eats a Shabriri Grape. Keep in mind that completing her questline requires Tarnished to meet with the Three Fingers, whichautomatically locks all other endings inElden Ringunless Miquella’s Needle is used at Crumbling Farum Azula.

7Speak With Rogier
Sorcerer Rogieris an NPC that’s first encountered as a Summon Sign beforeMargit the Fell Omen boss room inElden Ring. Later on, he can be found in Stormveil Castle, standing on an altar inside a chapel. Speaking with the Sorcerer unlocks him as a merchant that sells Ash of wars.

After defeating Godrick, Rogier moves to the Roundtable Hold (on the balcony). To trigger his questline, players must defeat the Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the lower parts of Stormveil Castle, then activate a bloodstain in front of the large face to view a special memory. Keep in mind that speaking with Ranni the Witch before Rogier will make his questline unavailable.
6Grab The Iron Whetblade
Iron Whetblade can be easily missed while exploring Stormveil Castle,as it’s hidden behind the fog of an Imp Statuein the lower levels of the castle. It’s a key item that can add the Heavy, Keen, and Quality Affinities to any compatible weapons. Tarnished will obviously need to use aStonesword Keyat the statue to remove the fog and enter the sealed room.
To reach theIron Whetblade, teleport to the Rampart Tower Site of Lost Grace and head southeast to the elevator that goes down to the Grafted Scion chamber. From there, head north outside then immediately take a left to find the Imp Statue. After using a Stonesword Key, head to the corpse sitting in front of the fireplace to grab the Iron Whetblade.

5Use The Giant To Smash The Statue
Before the Liftside Chamber Site of Lost Grace, people will likely encounter a glowing stone statue. However, no matter how many times players attack the statue, it won’t break. That’s because it requires a special monster to smash it.
Players are probably wondering where can someone find a heavy and large enemy. The answer is simple, it’s theTroll standing across Godrick the Grafted’s boss room.To break the statue inElden Ring, kill enemies standing between the Troll and statue before leading the monster to it. Then, stand on the statue and wait for the giant to smash it. Breaking the statue is worth the hassle, as it contains a handful of Smithing Stones.

4Cheese The Grafted Scion
From Rogier’s location in Stormveil Castle, if players continue walking ahead past the knight onto another section of the castle, they’ll eventually encounter the Grafted Scion. It’s a mini-boss that resembles a spider with many limbs sticking out of it. According to Roderika, this monster pulled out the arms and legs of her people and attached them to its body.

The Grafted Scion has various attack sets that are very hard to dodge, especially if Tarnished are in the early game and have very limited equipment. If the mini-boss is proving to be difficult, players can enter the room across the Godrick painting (where there’s an elevator) and shoot the Grafted Scion from there. Using ranged attacks like arrows orElden RingSpells are highly effective.
3Don’t Open The Main Gate
After defeating Margit the Fell Omen, players are greeted with a large closed gate near the Stormveil Main Gate Site of Lost Grace. The only entrance available is a door on the left side of the gate. There, people will encounter Gatekeeper Gostoc, who advises Tarnished to use the hole in the room to enter the castle instead of the gate.
DO NOTgo through the gate. Many enemies are waiting to ambush players with ranged attacks like the ballista. Even thoughTarnished can reachElden RingGodrick faster this way, they’ll die many times before reaching the boss and also miss very important items.

2Talk To Nepheli Loux To Help Beat Godrick
Nepheli Loux is a fearsome warrior that can be found in a room talking to a dead knight near the Secluded Cell Site of Lost Grace. From the bonfire, head out from the entrance where the Troll is standing, then move forward. Nepheli can be seen standing inside a small room. Exhausting her dialogue makes her available as a Summon Sign before Godrick the Grafted boss room.
Nepheli is also one of the fewNPCs that have a very simple quest inElden Ring. The warrior rewards an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Her quest involves Kenneth Haight, Gideon Ofnir, her adoptive father, and Perceptor Seluvis.

1Skip Stormveil Castle
It is inevitable that some players won’t be able to defeat Margit or Godrick unless they farm some Runes and level up their equipment and Armor. For those who deem it unnecessary or just can’t seem to defeat the Shardbearer and wish to continue exploring, there is amethod to skip Stormveil Castle inElden Ring.
First, teleport to the Stormhill Shack bonfire, which is where Roderika is found, and head northwest to the broken bridge near the Finger Reader NPC inElden Ring. Next, cross the bridge, jump down, then proceed southwest into a narrow path that’s full of wolves. After that, keep following the path until the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Lost Grace is visible. Tarnished are now free to roam Liurnia of the Lakes without defeating Godrick the Grafted.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
