What this means is fans can expect a new free game every day at 10 am CT, instead of just on Thursdays. This means EGS will be giving away a total of 15 free games to celebrate the end of 2021 and the holidays.
The promotion began in earnest yesterday when the first free game onEpic Games Store was confirmed to beShenmue 3. This title is a kickstarted action-adventure threequel where fans must avenge their father’s death. Despite its popular Kickstarter launch, it had a few controversies and ended up earning mixed reviews on Metacritic. Now, Epic Games Store has confirmed the second free mystery game, available now until December 18 at 10 am.

For today’s mystery game,Epic Games Storeis giving awayNeon Abyss. Neon Abyssalso has a mixed Metacritic score and is a roguelike dungeon-crawling action game.Neon Abyssis very involved in its features, featuring an upgradable dungeon with new items, endings, and more; item synergies, just to keep players on their toes; and, ultimately, over 500 items, 100 monsters and bosses, tons of secrets, and more.
It even goes a step further from otherroguelike games such asHadesto feature egg hatching and pets, plenty of mini-games in unique rooms, multiplayer playable characters, and unique neon gods. Moreover, Epic Games Store also took it a step further for tomorrow’s free game than it did yesterday withNeon Abyssfor today.Neon Abysscould have been anything, making it impossible to speculate or guess what it could be. This time around, the wrapping paper for the third mystery game features a tease for what the game is.
As seen above, it seems that there is a unique-looking tree on the wrapping paper. It’s still anyone’s guess but it’s a lot more limited thanNeon Abysswas. It seems leading, early speculation is that thethird Epic Games Store free mystery game will beDon’t Starve/Don’t Starve Together.Of course, it could still be something else entirely, but fans will be able to know tomorrow. They’ll also want to be sure they downloadNeon Abyssbefore it rotates out tomorrow, December 18, at 10 am.
