Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockouthas been a huge hit since its open beta release on Steam, but now that it’s been fully released for console as well, folks have noticed the lack of controller options.
Originally announced at E3 in 2019,Fall Guysis a bright and colorful competitive game inspired by obstacle racing TV games likeWipeoutandNinja Warrior. Starting with as many as 60 competitors, players must make the cut to the end of the challenge, whether it be surviving until the clock runs out or making it to the finish line, and try and be the last one standing by grabbing the crown and becoming the winner. From publisher Devolver Digital, the hope is for it to be a huge competitive hit.

For those lucky enough to getthe beta access toFall Guysvia Steam, they probably noticed that the jelly-bean guys can be a little difficult to control, tumbling every which way and being grabbed onto by others. There are only a few controls to worry about, but lucky for PC gamers, not only can the controls be adjusted via the Settings menu, but a controller can also be connected and customized for those who prefer to use one.
However, this brand new battle royale title currently only supports controller and keyboard settings on the PC version. To players' dismay, thePS4 version ofFall Guyshas no controller options at all, including an invert Y-axis option. Why the developers would release the PS4 version this way when the Steam copy has controller options is a mystery, but Mediatonic responded to the confusion in a statement to IGN saying, “We’re currently looking into this and hoping to have it resolved in a future hotfix.”
Hopefully, it won’t be too long before Mediatonic releases a patch for the controller options, because not having the ability to readdress buttons takes away a huge level of accessibility for gamers who have low mobility in their hands.
Still, it’s expected for Fall Guys to become the next competitive hit in the gaming scene. While Twitch streamers are currently thriving in the popularity of the new silly title,Fall Guysis in Sony’s selection of free PlayStation Plus gamesfor August 2020 along withModern Warfare 2 Remasteredin a strange mix, but a great opportunity for those looking to try before buying.
