Shazam! Fury of the Godsgot a teaser trailer that took fans behind the scenes and offered a glimpse at the new villains.Shazam 2will continue the story of Billy Batson and his Shazam Family, who made a brief but important appearance at the end of the previous film.
Shazamis one of DC’s most prominent heroes in terms of his super-powered abilities. He’s able to hold his own against heroes such as Superman and evenhis iconic nemesis Black Adam. Shazam is played by Zachary Levi, who appeared at DC FanDome 2021 to unveil a behind-the-scenes preview of the long-awaited sequel.

The teaser trailer forShazam 2provided some new story and characterdetails. The film will be taking place in many different regions across the world. The teaser showed Athens, Philadelphia, and even underground caverns. The film’s budget has significantly increased, as they now have many more actors and bigger fight scenes. The explosions, gunfire, and magic are all on display in theShazam 2preview.
The trailer teased the different tools used to create the VFX during the post-production of the film. It also teased the two villains ofShazam 2, Calypso and Hespera, who both take inspiration from the characters of thesame name from Greek Mythology. Having these two as villains gives time to cement Shazam as his own hero rather than relying on Black Adam as the premiere antagonist.
The sequel will showcase many different aspects from the comic books,including the other members of the Shazam family. These characters all utter the same word of ‘Shazam’ in order to become the super-powered version of themselves. Expect to see minor references inShazam 2that many hardcore fans may pick up on. They each take on super speed, flight, and strength, to name a few abilities. The trailer showed most of the heroes in action as the cameras were rolling, andShazam 2appears to focus on the group rather than just the titular hero. Expect to see more of them when the movie finally drops next summer.
With a bigger cast, a bigger budget, and a bigger plot, Shazam may finally be taking his place amongst the top heroes in DC. SinceShazam 2andBlack Adamare releasing a year apart from each other, it seems that fans may have to wait before they finally get a fight scene between the two characters. Shazam and Black Adam are known for fighting in comics and animated projects, so it would be nice to see this in a live-action film.
Shazam! Fury of the Godsis slated for a July 04, 2025, release.
