The former boss of marketing at Xbox offers his opinion about the PS5’s DualSense controller. Sony surprised fans byrevealing the PS5 controllerearlier this month, confirming features such as its haptic feedback and its adaptive triggers.
On Twitter, Albert Penello who was the director of marketing at Xbox for 17 years, said that he likes the PS5 DualSense controller. Penello said that widening the controller’s triggers is a “smart” decision. The former Xbox marketer also said that he has seen thePS5 controller memessuch as those that compare the DualSense to the Xbox Series X controller but Penello thinks that “the shape will prove to be quite comfortable.”

However, Penello does have some questions and criticisms about the new controller. Penello would like to know if the part-line that runs down the middle of the DualSense will be uncomfortable for gamers with bigger hands. Only a few games have been confirmed for the PS5 such asloot shooter launch title,Godfall. If all games are that sort of RPG style though then gamers could be spending hours at their PS5s, potentially gripping a controller that digs into them.
The marketer also has a question about thecontroller’s microphone quality. The controller means that players don’t need to buy a headset with a microphone to talk to other players, but fans don’t know how good it will be. Some gamers have also voiced concerns that the DualSense microphone will always be switched on and they will be hoping that Sony address these two issues before launch.
Another big question is if thePS5DualSense controller will work with the PS4. Sony had leaked that the PS4 controller would work with the PS5, but that doesn’t mean that the PS5 controller will also work with the PS4. This would make multiplayer much easier for groups of friends though and could save gamers money on new controllers.
There is a huge number of things that Sony hasn’t confirmed about its console or the DualSense controller. Fans don’t knowhow much the PS5 controller will cost, what colors it will be available in and how many games will use features like that haptic feedback. The PS5 launches in holiday 2020 though meaning that much more information should be revealed over the next few months.
