The last five years ofFortnitehave seen plenty of other game franchises find their way into the battle royale, with content a-plenty for players to pick up and show off their fandom for series likeGod of WarandBorderlands.Street Fighteris another part of this collaborative effort, with series regulars Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, and Cammy already available for players to pick up as skins from the in-game store, along with a handful of other cosmetics. Two more members of the roster are now set to join the battle royale as a third pack is on the way featuring Ryu’s biggest fan and wannabe pupil, alongsideStreet Fighter’s iconic and feral green-skin fighter.
The first ofStreet Fighter’s crossover packs withFortnitecame in Chapter 2: Season 5 and offered marquee characters Ryu and Chun-Li as the pack’s player skins. It also included cosmetics such as an appropriately themed pickaxe and E. Honda parachute to have some fun with in matches. The secondStreet Fighterpack released shortly after during Chapter 2: Season 7 and added the heroic pair of Cammy and Guile to the game.

As mentioned above, Epic Games announced the third Street Fighter pack as part of its ongoing collaborations with Capcom on the game’s official website and were quick to share it onFortnite’s official Twitter. The nextStreet Fighterpack will see the feral, green-skined Blanka joining the fray along with the young but talented fighter Sakura. Alternate skins for the pair will also be available to pick up along with a handful of smaller cosmetic items including two new pickaxes and two new emotes.
Blanka is one of the longest-tenured characters in theStreet Fighterseries, first appearing in 1991’sStreet Fighter 2. The green-skined, orange-haired feral fighter was once a human, like many on the roster, who found himself stranded in the Brazilian jungle after a plane crash when he was a child. He would begin to mutate as a result of his life in the jungle, turning his skin green, his hair orange, and granting him the ability to generate electricity.
Sakura’s backstory, by comparison, is much more tame and straightforward than Blanka’s. First appearing in 1996’sStreet Fighter Alpha 2, Sakura is described as a talented young martial artist who idolizes series leadRyuand has dedicated her life to learning from the series' stoic hero. She has followed Ryu all over the world in an effort to become his student while already teaching herself some of his fighting techniques, such as the shoryuken, though altered slightly to reflect her self-taught approach.
The timing of this pack is also fortuitous for Capcom as it is looking to build hype forStreet Fighter 6. As of this writing, the game is set for a Summer 2022 release, though no official date has been announced. If the game is able to make the release window, a new character pack inFortniteis a simple tool to promote the game to one of the biggest game audiences out there and, hopefully, sway a few to check outStreet Fighter 6when it releases.
Fortniteis currently available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
