The v23.50Fortniteupdate will most likely be the final content update of Chapter 4 Season 1. The Most Wanted event might’ve ended, but Epic Games couldn’t let the season come to a close without releasing some new quests to keep its fans entertained during the last week. The Cipher quests are now live, and they’re completely different from the other quests in the game.

These tasks are more of a challenge, and they will have players solving cracking codes and solving mysterious riddles. If they manage to get through enough Cipher quests, players will be able to earn exclusive cosmetic items and either get some last-minute XP or start gathering experience in the first couple of days ofFortnite’s Season 2 Battle Pass. This guide will explain exactly how the event works and how players cansolve the Encrypted Cipher quests.
Cipher Quests
When first opening the Cipher quests tab in the Quests menu, players will instantly notice that there are two types of quests:Encrypted Cipher quests and (Unencrypted) Cipher quests. There’s a huge difference between them. Unencrypted quests are regular quests - they’re straightforward and will grant 10,000 XP upon completion. And then there are the Encrypted quests, which are completely mysterious; they will only display a code number that players have to crack in order to find out what exactly the mission at hand is.New Cipher quests will continue to be released daily until March 7, thelast day of Chapter 4 Season 1, butall quests and rewards will remain available until March 10.
The nextFortniteseason is starting March 8, and since these quests will still be available in the first couple of days of the season, players that have already finished thisBattle Passmight want to consider only completing these quests once the new one comes out - this way they can get a great XP boost right to get a head start on the Battle Pass.

Cipher Quest Rewards
As mentioned before, by completing individual Unencrypted Cipher quests players will receive experience points, butthere are other rewards for those that finish multiple challenges. Both Encrypted and Unencrypted quests have Bonus Goal rewards, so the more quests the player gets through, the more cosmetic items they’ll receive. Here are all the bonus rewards for completing Cipher quests:

On top of this, players will also be rewarded for completing individual Encrypted quests, but the actual reward will only be disclosed once the quest is released. The first Encrypted quest to be releasedgrantedFortniteplayers 10,000 XP, but the one that unlocked right after gave players theDistant Roar spray. For now, it is unknown if any more cosmetic rewards will be given for completing any upcoming Encrypted quests or if they’ll simply give out more XP.

How To Decipher Encrypted Quests
When looking at the Cipher quests tab, besides the quests, on the right, there is an image of the various rewards the players can unlock, and below this, there is a message that reads “a signal has been detected with alooping encrypted messageinside that reads0.3.1.0.2.0.2.3.” It seems like an odd, random sentence, but that’s not the case. The looping encrypted message is the answer to the various codes that players will receive throughout the event, so it’s extremely important that players take note of it. This number also represents July 28, 2025, which is when this event comes to an end.

To decode the Encrypted quests, players have to subtract the numbers in the lopping message from each number in the quest title. Then, the subtraction’s result number will be substituted by the letter that it corresponds to in the alphabet. This will give players a location; somewhere in the mentioned location, they will be able to complete the quest by following the additional message in the quest’s description. If the quest only has an encrypted message and there’s no description, it’ll give players direct orders explaining what they have to do.
If the quest description has more numbers than the message, since it loops, gamers have to simply keep subtracting the same numbers from the start.
For example, the first Encrypted quest’s description says “inspect the wall… beneath… eastern building at [redacted]” and then below it are the numbers1.17.23.9.14. 19.19.24.1.21.6. This is how the code can be deciphered:
In this case, the answer isAnvil Square, the named location in the center of the map. If gamers head there and check the eastern area for a building with a basement, they will notice that the repair shop building is the solution to this riddle. In the basement, there is a wall that players can interact with in order to complete the quest and get their XP.
It’s much easier to make these calculations and solve the riddles if the player writes down the looping message and the encrypted quest title.
There will also be quests without any hints in the description because the quest itself will reveal what needs to be done. The second available Encrypted quest only says “19.19.19.1.27. 1.22. 22.16.15.10.20.21. 2.17.26.12” which when decoded says “Spray at Splits Bowl”. So, players have to head down to the bowling alley in Faulty Splits. If they open the emote wheel inside the building, a special spray will appear automatically; this is the Distant Roar spray, they will have to use it to complete this quest, and then they’ll be able to keep it for themselves to use whenever they’d like.
As the event progresses and more quests will be released, and players will have to keep decoding messages if they’d like to receive all available rewards; thankfully, this is definitely easier once they know the numbers they have to use and how they have to use them in order to figure out exactly what the quest is.
