According to Epic Games, changes to how players see “confrontational” emotes will be made soon. In an update coming April 23, players will no longer see several emotes when used by an enemy player. These “confrontational” emotes will be displayed as standing still with no emote sound when used by enemy players. There will be an option to change this, which can be found under the “social privacy” settings in the main menu. By default, players will only see the affected emotes from players in a party, with other options being to see the emotes from no other players or show from all players. There are hundreds of emotes available, with some emotescoming back to the item shop inFortniteperiodically. However, the only emotes that will be affected in the update are listed below.

There are only four emotes hidden from players in the coming update, all of which can be considered confrontational. These new changes do not affect the ability of players to use these emotes on their own. Emotes like “Laugh It Up” and “Take The L” can be seen as toxic when used against an enemy player, with some players wishing to not see these types of emotes entirely.Rare emotes inFortnite, like “It’s Complicated” and “Kiss the Cup” are unaffected. The update will come in a patch labeled v29.30 on April 23, which will also include Billie Eilish coming to Fortnite Festival.
