Player Mistakes

Back to All Characters

Nahida may be a simple Sub-DPS inGenshin Impactwho’s easy to use, but behind her cute appearance and handy utility, she surprisingly comes with some mechanics that are easily missed. Knowing these subtle concepts can greatly help players in maximizing Nahida’s potential inGenshin Impact.

Here are some of the most common beginner mistakes that people should be wary of when playing Nahida inGenshin Impact.

6Not Knowing How To Trigger Seed of Skandha

Seed of Skandha is applied on enemies after players use Nahida’s Tap or Hold Skill. A leaf mark will be attached to the enemies, and a link can be seen between those who are near each other. This effect will create a chain of damage where, if the Tri-Karma Purification is triggered on one enemy, all linked enemies will be hit by Dendro DMG.

However, triggering Tri-Karma Purification is not that straightforward. This damage will only occur after anElemental reaction is triggered on at least one affected enemy. Tri-Karma Purification will also trigger if the opponent takes Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon damage. This meansplayers can’t trigger Tri-Karma Purification with Physical attacks.

The Tri-Karma Purification comes with a 2.5 cooldown, yet players will find that the ability may not trigger every 2.5s. This is because theElemental reactions done by other charactersalso have their own ICD, making the actual trigger time of Tri-Karma Purification closer to 3s than 2.5s.

5Focusing Too Much On Elemental Mastery

Elemental Mastery is the most important stat for Nahida to have, but having too much of it is not good either. Similar to Raiden Shogun, Nahida has a diminishing return where the effectiveness of Elemental Mastery will lower if it’s being stacked too much.

Instead, players should find a balance between Elemental Mastery, Critical Rate, Critical Damage, and Elemental Damage Bonus. Successfully finding thebest combination will increase Nahida’s DPS. For this, people will also need to consider her teammates and the buff each of them brings. For example, if Sucrose is in the party, then she will lower Nahida’s Elemental Mastery requirement.

4Overestimating Attack Stat

Unlike some characters that just completely disregard ATK like Yelan and Nilou, Nahida still benefits from this stat. However, although she scales with ATK, thisstat is not as important as Elemental Mastery.

Attack will prove to be even more underwhelming compared to Elemental Mastery if Nahida is playing in a Spread team comp. Since Spread Damage increases along with Elemental Mastery, Attack will be buried even deeper on the list. This can easily be seen withtheGenshin ImpactCatalyst, Skyward Atlas. Skyward Atlas is a decent weapon for Nahida under normal circumstances, but it’s terrible for her in a Quicken team comp.

3Not Knowing How Her First Ascension Passive Works

Nahida’s first ascension passive (A1) will grant 25% of the highest character’s Elemental Mastery to the active character, up to 250 EM. So if the highest EM in the team has 800 Elemental Mastery, the active character will enjoy a 200 EM buff. This effect snapshots, so it will take the highest Elemental Mastery value when the Burst is cast.

However, note that this buff can’t be manipulated by percentage-scaling buffs. For example, if the highest EM in the team is 800 and players use Sucrose’s A4 to bump the EM to 1000, Nahida will still only grant 200 EM buff instead of 250. This is becauseSucrose’s A4 scales with 20% of her maximum Elemental Masteryinstead of a flat bonus. Meanwhile, if Albedo is the one granting 125 EM from his Elemental Burst, Nahida’s A1 will grant 231 EM instead of 200 EM. Albedo’s EM buff will affect Nahida’s A1 since it’s a flat bonus instead of a percentage. This system exists to prevent people from endlessly looping the EM bonus to create an infinite number of buffs.

2Not Knowing How Her Elemental Burst Works

Nahida’s Elemental Burst can be quite wordy, but it’s actually simple. Nahida gains bonuses for her Elemental Skill according to the number of Pyro, Hydro, orElectro characters in her team. At talent level 10, here’s what Nahida will get:

1Not Going For Her Second Constellation

Similar to Raiden Shogun and Zhongli, Nahida’sbestGenshin ImpactConstellation also liesin her C2. Her first Constellation allows her to permanently enjoy her Burst effect as if she has one Pyro, Electro, and Hydro unit on the team, which is great, but her second Constellation is where she becomes a game changer.

For people who are playing Nahida with Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, the Dendro Cores now have a 20% chance to Crit, doubling their damage. Meanwhile, those who are playing a Quicken team comp are in for a treat. When enemies who are marked by Nahida’s Seed of Skandha are affected by Quicken, Spread, or Aggravate, they will lose 30% of their DEF. This means Nahida is now an insane buffer for Electro-centric teams.
