The expansion of the lore and story of HoYoVerse’s massively popular RPG throughout the two years since its launch has seen plenty of interesting and unique fan theories surrounding the game. Some of the most popular theories have related to the true identity of Paimon and some, likefans suggesting Katheryne is a robot, have even been confirmed by HoYoVerse. Now, a new theory looks to tackle the fabled “fake sky” idea.

Fan theories and speculation surrounding the sky over Teyvat being fake have been one of the most long-running ideas inGenshin Impact, dating back to shortly after the game’s launch. Reference to Teyvat’s “fake sky” was first made by Scaramouche during one of the game’s first events, Version 1.1’s Unreconciled Stars. The theory has been a prevalent one in many of the game’s stories related to the Fatui, particularly being referenced by the organization’s Harbingers. Now, one fan has put forward an idea of how Teyvat’s fake sky may function.

A post to theGenshin Impactsubreddit by user Helloimnewer showcases a diagram theorizing the potential layout of Teyvat in relation to the fake sky. The image depicts Teyvat as a ring surrounding the spherical fake sky located overhead with a fake Sun and Moon, as well as reflections of real stars. The user suggests the fake sky rotates itself with Teyvat remaining stationary, simulating day-and-night cycles within the game’s world.
