A new leak fromGenshin Impactis potentially teasing major story elements revolving around the upcoming Hydro Archon, expected to debut early within Fontaine. With only a couple of months left until the release of the newest region, fans of the HoYoverse RPG have begun to learn more about the game’s fifth major region. Several locations have been teased by HoYoverse with many more leaked, includingFontaine’s unique “twin city” geographical structure. Now, new details are surfacing about one of the region’s most highly-anticipated characters.Referred to as both Focalors and Furina, leaks have already given several details about the Archon ofGenshin Impact’s Hydro-themed region. Focalors is expected to debut withinGenshin Impactas a Hydro Sword character, with many leaks suggesting she may release in a similar timeframe to past Archons during Version 4.2. Leaks have also hinted at elements of her gameplay, suggesting she will feature mechanics revolving around gravity and reducing teammates' HP for buffs. The leak suggests that, following the passing of the previous Archon,the new Hydro Archonsplit themselves into two parts. One half of the Archon is apparently an adolescent-aged girl with “a temperamental side” while the other is said to act as an impartial judge, with one “acting in seclusion.” Focalors' story looks to share similar elements with that of the dual-sided persona of Inazuma’s Raiden Shogun.
The rumor of one half of the Archon acting as an “impartial” figure would likely look to align itself with some of Fontaine’s main concepts. The region has been heavily teased tofeature “justice” as Fontaine’s central thematicwith the region’s Archon also referred to as the “God of Justice” in official materials. The recent Version 3.8 Special Program also highlighted the region’s centralization around law and order, referring to the patrolling Melusine enforcing justice within the region and being suspicious of outsiders. Fontaine is expected to debut with the release of Version 4.0 in August.
The Hydro Archon serves as just one of many characters already leaked fromGenshin Impact’s upcoming Hydro region. Characters expected to release early within the region’s cycle have already seen plenty of information leaked, includinggameplay details for Lyney and Lynetteand appearances for numerous roster members. The region’s geography has also been teased with in-game locations and concept art from Fontaine surfacing months before its debut. The launch of Fontaine this summer will not only expandGenshin Impact’s map significantly, but also bring brand-new adventures for players.
