The game’s official social media announcement has confirmed that he will be a new Cryo user, and he is also rumored to be using the Catalyst as his primary weapon.
This will make Wriothesley the first character inGenshin Impactto have this weapon and element combination which will allow him to constantly apply the Cryo element on his enemies. This means that, depending on his team comp role, Wriothesley could be the go-to support or DPS for the famous Frozen team.

Anew leak on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddithas given even more information about the new Cryo user Wriothesley. The leak mentions that Wriothesley will be using his Normal Attacks to apply elemental damage which is another hint that he will be a Catalyst character. He uses his fist to deal damage which is why the post mentions that his playstyle will be very similar to theInazuma detective Shikanoion Heizouwho is also a Catalyst user who prefers close combat. His Elemental Skill will allow Wriothesley to sprint a short distance before entering a special state. During this state, Wriothesley will have an increased resistance to interruptions which makes sense since he needs to keep a close distance from the enemies.
This state also increases Wriothesley’s Normal Attack damage if he’s above 50% HP which means that players need to surround him with strong healers such as Bennett or Kokomi, depending on the elemental reactions they want to trigger. When it comes to the playstyle of thisnewGenshin Impactcharacter, the leaker described him as a brawler.
Activating his Elemental Burst will start a 5-hit attack sequence that has a large AoE and deals tons of Cryo damage. The leak confirmed that this burst is not similar to Dehya’s The Lioness’s Bite as it’s more comparable to Wanderer and Heizou. While the post did not mention his role, based on the leaks it’s safe to assume that he will be anew DPSGenshin Impactcharacterwith a strong focus on close combat.
When it comes to his go-to party, Wriothesley could play a similar role to Kamisato Ayaka, another Cryo DPS with a strong focus on elemental damage.
