Teyvat, the world ofGenshin Impact, is home to many interesting creatures, almost all of whom drop special items needed to ascend characters or weapons. One of these creature groups is the Vishap family. Vishaps are actually the former dominant race in Teyvat before humans arrived.

All types of Vishaps (save for some of the bosses that belong to the category) drop Bone Shards, which are used to ascend some weapons. This guide will outline where to find all of the respawning Vishaps and farm Bone Shards inGenshin Impact!

Lumberpick Valley Vishaps

At higher levels, Vishaps can drop better and better items, as shown here:

Lower-level items can, of course, be crafted into higher-levels at a 3:1 ratio.

Chasm Vishap

Vishap Locations in Liyue

Most Vishaps are found in Liyue, particularly Geovishaps. Many of them are the high-speed rolling Hatchlings, but there are a handful of larger, mature Geovishaps as well.

Finding their home in Liyue, Azhdaha and the Primo Geovishap boss are part of the Vishap family, but do not drop Bone Shards. Instead, the Primo Geovishap drops Juvenile Jade, a boss drop, while Azhdaha is fought in a weekly trounce domain.Check here for our guide to the Primo Geovishapif you need its materials to level up characters like Hu Tao, Yanfei, or Xiao, andclick here for our guide to defeating Azhdaha, whose talent materials are used by Ayaka, Yelan, and more.

Geovishap Chasm

Liyue: Lumberpick Valley and The Chasm Surface

Starting in the southwest portion of Liyue, there are a few Vishap Hatchlings to be found in Lumberpick Valley and a mature Geovishap tucked away in a cave on the Chasm’s surface.

The Hatchlings, of which there are four, can easily be accessed by using the teleport waypoint in Lumberpick Valley and heading northwest.

Tianqiu Valley Vishaps

The mature Geovishap in Fuao Vale can be accessed by teleporting to the nearby waypoint, then heading forward along the cart tracks into the cave. Break the spiderwebs and continue forward to a larger cavern, where the Geovishap is easily spotted on the left, a bit lower than the tracks.

Head through here!

Liyue: Tianqiu Valley

Heading north from there to Tianqiu Valley, players will find the area home to many Vishaps. There is one mature Geovishap on the southside of the small body of water here, and six Hatchlings rolling around in the area. Those in the southeast are on top of the hills.

All of the Vishaps here can be accessed by choosing either of the teleport waypoints circled in the image above and moving clockwise.

Dunyu Ruins Vishaps

Liyue: Dunyu Ruins/Lisha

The area just east of the Dunyu Ruins is home to two Geovishap Hatchlings and a single mature Geovishap.

It’s much easier to farm all three by teleporting twice; once to fight the Hatchling to the west, and again to fight those other two. This is because the teleport waypoint is on top of the cliff, which is in between the west Hatchling and the mature Geovishap, making you climb no matter which one you visit first. It’s easier to just teleport once one is dealt with. The Hatchling in the middle is on top of the cliff, so it can be fought whenever.

Vishap Runway

The mature Geovishap is fairly easy to find, but if you’re having issues, note that it’s somewhat tucked between two cliff faces. Just north of the waypoint is a set of ruins with a piece of path that sort of looks like a runway with a steep dropoff.

Follow this “runway” in a straight line and it’ll take you right down to the Vishap with a short glide.

Vishap

Liyue: Bishui Plain

There are a few Hatchlings scattered around the large body of water that makes up Dihua Marsh. There’s no one waypoint that brings the player to all four, as they’re pretty far apart. However, each is fairly accessible from its own nearest waypoint.

For the Hatchling in the northwest, watch out for the Geo Lawachurl on the way, and don’t pick the Mint right underfoot after arriving at the waypoint, because it’s a Whopperflower.

North Liyue Vishaps

The northeast Hatchling by Stone Gate is, luckily, at the ground level, not on top of the horrible cliffs in the area. It’s fairly equidistant between the two waypoints, so either will work fine.

Liyue: Northwest Liyue/Minlin

The northwest portion of Liyue that comprises Mt. Aocang and Huaguang Stone Forest is home to a few Vishaps, as well.

One Hatchling can be reached with a short glide down to ground level from the waypoint on top of Mt. Hulao. One mature Geovishap and two Hatchlings are reachable with a jaunt west from the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain (top of the above image).

Minlin Geovishaps

There are a few that are a bit more complicated, but not hard to find. Those marked in green in the image above (with the X) are actually in a cave underneath Mt. Aocang. Simply teleport to the waypoint on top of the mountain, then make your way down to the bottom of it on the west side to see a pretty obvious cave with a Geovishap in it. The Hatchling doesn’t appear until you go inside.

The final Vishap in this area is a mature one just east of Mt. Aocang. From the same waypoint, head northeast across the flat top of the mountain that includes the pool of water and entrance to the Adeptus' abode. The eastern edge of this area has a bit of rock that sticks up, but just past it on a lower level, there’s a mature Geovishap.

Vishaps Cliff

Liyue: Nantianmen

The area Azhdaha is found in is called Nantianmen, and there are a few lower-level Vishaps around to be found.

While the mature Geovishap in the bottom-left portion of the above image is easily reached by teleporting to the circled waypoint and hopping across the river, the Geovishap and Hatchling just to the right of that waypoint (in blue with stars) are not as accessible from it as a 2D map suggests. There’s a sheer cliff here that’s a pain to climb, (marked by the yellow line marked “Cliff line”), so it’s actually much easier to head to them from the waypoint on top of the mountain.

From that same waypoint, head east for another Geovishap down a few levels.

Liyue: Mingyun Village/Dragonspine Foothills

At the western foot of Dragonspine is Mingyun Village, where three Hatchlings can be found rolling around.

Joining them in this area is one more Hatchling, which is further north by the Ridge Watch domain.

Liyue: Guyun Stone Forest

The final Vishap on the surface of Liyue is a lone Hatchling hiding on a small island in Guyun Stone Forest. There are two methods for reaching it:

Liyue: The Chasm Underground

Underground in the Chasm, there are a few more Geovishaps that can be found. All three area mature Geovishaps.

The first is very near the entrance to the Chasm, by the Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel. It’s in a U-shaped tunnel underneath this waypoint, which has two entrances. The first is further west, and is the same one where Skeld the Shadowy Husk is found.

The Miner’s Key is needed to access this room and a lever is then used to open another gate leading to the tunnel past it. If you haven’t unlocked this area, try the other entrance.

The other entrance is a bit more roundabout but not too hard. Head down to the lower level from the waypoint and look for a tunnel entrance with some orange stones around it.

Go inside that tunnel, and glide to the left, heading for a cliff edge around the corner.

If you need, use the Spoutrock for a boost to jump up.

Through this tunnel, a Geovishap can be found.

The Chasm: Main Mining Area

The next Geovishap is found in the Main Mining Area, again in a tunnel cave. This one is a bit easier to access, though.

Simply use the teleport waypoint south of it. Then, head north through the tunnel. Beware that this Geovishap is affected by Dark Mud, so use the Lumenstone Adjuvant to remove the Oozing Concretion and the enemy’s buffs.

The Chasm: Glowing Narrows

The final of the three is also the easiest. Simply teleport to the Glowing Narrows teleport waypoint, turn slightly to the left, and the Geovishap will be right in front of you.

Enkanomiya Vishap Locations

Given its connection to the three realms and the Vishaps, it’s perhaps no surprise that Enkanomiya is home to quite a few Vishaps. However, unlike the Geovishaps that dominate Liyue, Enkanomiya’s Vishaps are of a handful of different varieties, all under the Bathysmal umbrella. These include Rimebiter Hatchlings (aligned to Cryo), Bolteater Hatchlings (aligned to Electro), and Primordial and Primordial Hatchlings (both Hydro-aligned).

Like Liyue, Enkanomiya contains a Vishap boss that does not drop Bone Shards, this being the Bathysmal Vishap Herd or simply the Coral Defenders. This boss is actually two creatures, a mature Bolteater and a mature Rimebiter. Their unique boss drop, the Dragonheir’s False Fin, is an ascension material used by Yae Miko and Shenhe.

Enkanomiya: The Serpent’s Bowels

The main entrance area of Enkanomiya, the Serpent’s Bowels, is crawling with Vishap Hatchlings. Right inside by the waypoint, two Primordial Hatchlings can be found. A few steps on, two more are found. Then, a hop, skip, and jump north is a raised pool of water with two Bolteater Hatchlings.

Enkanomiya: The Narrows

In the Narrows, there are seven Vishaps to be found. On the top section of the “island” on the northern edge, a mature Primordial Vishap can be found with two Hatchlings.

On the southern edge of the area, a single Rimebiter Hatchling can be found in a small pond at the base of a waterfall. Watch out for the Ruin Guard patrolling nearby.

Finally, head to the northeast section of the area and drop down to the pool, also known as one of the Emanant Skylights. A mature Primordial Vishap and two Hatchlings guard it, though the Hatchlings don’t appear until you get really close.

Enkanomiya: Evernight Temple

In the area of the Evernight Temple, there’s another Emanant Skylight. Again, it’s guarded by one mature Primordial Vishap and two Hatchlings that appear once you get close.

Enkanomiya: The Serpent’s Heart

Again, like the last two sections, the Serpent’s Heart contains an Emanant Skylight guarded by three Primordial Vishaps, a mature and two Hatchlings. Only the adult will be present until you get close, when the two Hatchlings will appear.

Enkanomiya: Vishap Research Lab

The final Vishap found in Enkanomiya is a single Rimebiter Hatchling on a hidden island. North of the Dainichi Mikoshi, not visible on the map, is a research station called the Vishap Research Lab.

The easiest way to reach it is by using a phase gate that brings you straight to the Lab. This phase gate is on the northern edge of a small floating “island” adjacent to the Dainichi Mikoshi.

Head north from the circled waypoint in the above image, and hug the left side of the island to avoid the Geohide Lawachurl. At the northern tip of this area, there’s a phase gate that carries you right over to the Lab’s island. Just take the path you land on to the inside area, where there’s a Rimebiter Hatchling.
