TV adaptations of successful video game franchises have become increasingly popular for streaming services in recent years, withHaloreceiving its own show on Paramount Plus, as well asResident Evilrecently receiving a short-lived Netflix show. Sony itself is spearheading the most recent developments on this front, though, with there also being a high-profile live-action adaptation ofThe Last of Usthat is set to come to HBOearly next year.

Given howGod of War’snarratives are so character-driven, fans are more than excited at the prospect of a live-action adaptation, with many discussing the possiblecasting choices of Kratos and Atreusin leading roles. The Added Lore That Prime Video’s God of War Could Provide
Of course, Kratos was originally depicted as a core facet of Greek mythology, with the franchise initially building itself around these early Greek mythological roots. However, after seemingly exhausting the lengths of this mythology, Kratos was instead flung into the chaos ofNorse mythology starting from 2018’sGod of War.
There is a rather jarring contrast between the two realms of folklore, with many fans additionally wondering how Kratos was able to travel between the two. The world ofGod of Waris said to be split into different pantheons of mythological rule, which partially explains the co-existence of differing lore, but the specifics of how Kratos physically traveled from Ancient Greece to the Ancient Norse realms is still up for debate.
It is largely accepted that, following the events ofGod of War 3, the world was flooded to such an extent that Kratos was forced to take refuge by boat and escape, eventually finding himself in Midgard andhaving Atreus with his second wife, Faye. Despite the consensus of this aspect ofGod of Warlore, it remains that this part of Kratos' story has never been fully adapted and shown to fans, who have long yearned for a physical representation of this migration between realms. Given how the upcomingGod of WarPrime show is set to tell the tale of 2018’sGod of WarandRagnarok, a perfect opportunity is seemingly present to provide fans with a tangible portrayal of such a narratively important transition.
