Halo Infinite’s initial gameplay reveal may have been met with a mixed reception, but there is plenty to look forward in the upcoming game. Namely,Halo Infiniteis bringing back split-screen support after it was missing fromHalo 5: Guardians, and now Head of Design at 343 Industries, Jerry Hook, has offered some clarification as to how exactly the upcoming first-person shooter’s split-screen will work.

Halo Infinitewill support 2-player split-screen for the campaign, with online co-op supporting up to 4 players. It’s quite likely that the game will have split-screen online, meaning players can play with someone in split-screen as well as their online friends, though that wasn’t specified in Hook’s tweet. Meanwhile, it seems thatHalo Infinite4-player split-screenwill apply to the game’s versus multiplayer component instead, which is how it worked in past games as well.

Unfortunately, there is still no real concrete information on what theHalo Infinitemultiplayer will entail beyond split-screen support. Microsoft utilized the Xbox Games Showcase event to focus onHalo Infinite’s campaign, opting to keep the multiplayer a secret for now, and has not given any indication as to when more onHalo Infinite’s multiplayer will be revealed.

Reports indicate thatHalo Infinite’s multiplayerwill have a “really high player count,” though what that means exactly remains to be seen. 343 has somewhat pushed back against the notion thatHalo Infinitewill have battle royale, but considering how popular the game mode is, it would actually be surprising for the game to skip it. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see exactly whatHalo Infinitehas to offer when it comes to multiplayer.

Besides campaign and multiplayer, we also know that the franchise’s popularForge modeis making a comeback inHalo Infinite. Forge givesHalofans the tools to create their own maps and tweak existing ones, and has resulted in some very impressive creations in the past. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see howHalo Infinite’s Forge expands on the feature.

There’s still a lot more for343 Industriesto reveal when it comes toHalo Infinite, but with the gaming launching alongside the Xbox Series X later this year, more information should come to light sooner rather than later.

Halo Infinitewill launch later this year for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
