Bayonetta 3only just been released on the Nintendo Switch, but the game’s producer has teased that he has plans for at least six more installments. After the first two games were ported from the Wii U early into the Switch’s lifecycle, the hotly anticipatedBayonetta 3was first unveiled at the Games Awards in 2017.
Although there was a long wait between the first announcement and the release of the game, the Umbra Witch’s third outing has gotten off to a great start withBayonetta 3receiving rave reviewsin the lead-up to its release. This has led the series producer, Hideki Kamiya to tease fans with a potential story arc told across multiple games.

As noted by Alishock on Reddit, Platinum Games’ outspoken producer has taken to Twitter multiple times to say that he has plans for Bayonetta’s whole story to be told over nine games. The latest comment was posted on October 30 teasing fans by saying that even nine entries might not be enough to tell the full story.
While the prospect of multiple new entries into a well-loved franchise such asBayonettamight be an exciting prospect for fans, this news must be taken with a pinch of salt. Kamiya is known for his trolling sense of humor and this doesn’t take into consideration other games that Platinum is developing, such asthe rumoredAstral Chain 2. Another big hurdle for the grand plans comes in the form of Nintendo, as the publisher controls the purse strings for the series and as such has the final say in any grand plans.
Seeing at least six more Bayonetta games might seem to be a tad ambitious, considering the third game has a fair share of issues prior to release. A week before the game was due to hit the shelves, Bayo’s English voice actor,Hellena Taylor took to Twitter to call for a boycott ofBayonetta 3due to the way she was treated over pay negotiations.
Despite this controversy,Kamiya has been grateful for Nintendo’s commitment toBayonetta, and withBayonetta 3seemingly a successful launch for the two companies, players could find that a fourth entry is greenlit rather quickly. Although, for a series that began in 2009 and has only seen three installments to date, fans may have to wait quite a while before they see Bayonetta’s entire story come to fruition.
