Players have been exploring the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Boston Commonwealth inFallout 4since it released back in 2015, and they continue to discover hidden and unique details in the Bethesda RPG. OneFallout 4player has noticed a funny issue with Paladin Danse after rescuing a prisoner in the Saugus Ironworks during a quest.

Reddit user Faxonax recently posted a clip of their adventure inFallout 4’s Commonwealthin which they’re working on a quest in the Saugus Ironworks that tasked them with saving prisoners from the tall building. The video begins with the player facing a captured Settler by the cauldron of molten iron near the base of the Ironworks. Choosing to free the prisoner without sharing items with them, theFallout 4fan releases the captive Settler who then attempts to run away to no avail after Danse gets between them and the staircase to safety.

Just as the prisoner in Faxonax’s clip is about to escape the Ironworks,Paladin Dansesteps down the metal stairs to attack the unprotected NPC with one swift melee blow. After the assault, the freed Prisoner collapses to their death with a spurt of blood shooting from an open wound that was previously their arm. The video quickly ends after the demise of the Settler as Faxonax stares at Danse dumbfounded by the situation and assuming that the Brotherhood of Steel character disliked their decision.

Although Faxonax was doing a quest in the Saugus Ironworks in rescuing the kidnaped Settlers in the building, Paladin Danse’s intervention in the rescue operation shouldn’t have prevented the player from progressing in the objective. While the prisoner in Faxonax’s clip is strangely killed by Danse, many otherFallout 4fans have reported issues with the NPC dying after turning around to run into the cauldron of molten metal instead of leaving the building. Both Faxonax and Danse are donningPower Armorin the video which likely helped the player and their companion defeat the many Raiders holding these Settlers captive in the Ironworks.

Paladin Danse doesn’t typically respond to other NPCs inFallout 4as he does in Faxonax’s clip, but the captured moment shows that the Brotherhood of Steel character occasionally lashes out at others. BecauseFallout 76is the most recent title in the series and continues to receive updates and additional content from Bethesda, thisFallout 4issue associated with Danse may not be resolved in the near future. Given the RPG nature ofFallout 4, it’s currently unclear how other NPCs have reacted to Danse’s actions in Faxonax’sFallout 4adventure, but other Settlers may react differently to the character after such an attack.

Fallout 4is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
