The map size forHorizon Forbidden West’sBurning ShoresDLC has been revealed a day before it is set to launch on PS5. Guerrilla Games confirmed thatHorizon Forbidden Westwould receive a follow-up DLC story during December’s Game Awards 2022 livestream, and it will take Aloy to the previously unexplored ruins of Los Angeles. Players have been advised tocompleteHorizon Forbidden West’s main plotlinebefore diving into theBurning ShoresDLC, as its story will pick up where the base game left off.
Naturally, the Burning Shores will be filled with plenty of eye-catching sights for Aloy (and players) to experience, including active volcanoes, dizzying cliffs, and impressive clouds that take full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s advanced hardware. Along the way,Aloy will reconnect with the Quen– a sea-faring, knowledge-seeking tribe she first encountered while exploring the tomb of Ted Farro in the mainHorizon Forbidden Weststoryline – and meet a new warrior companion named Seyka. There will be plenty of new enemies for Aloy to battle and tame as well, including the multi-purpose Waterwing and a hulking behemoth powerful enough to tear through the iconic Hollywood sign.

Now players have a better idea of how farHorizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores stretch, as revealed in a recent video from PlayStation Access. At about the 12:50 mark, the map screen for the DLC is shown, though most of it is covered by the classic “fog of war” that signifies a place Aloy hasn’t explored yet. This map is quite large, with GamesRadarestimating that it is about the same size as a third of the baselineHorizon Forbidden Westgame world.
A map of this size might not come as much of a surprise, as theupcomingHorizon Forbidden West: Burning ShoresDLCis reported to take up roughly 15 GB of storage space, almost double the size ofHorizon Zero Dawn’sThe Frozen Wildsexpansion. Said expansion featured about 7-8 hours of story content in addition to various sidequests and other activities, so it could stand to reason thatBurning Shoreswill contain plenty of gameplay and lore forHorizonfans.
TheBurning Shoresmap wasn’t shown for very long or in much detail, but it looks like Aloy will have much to do on her latest quest through the wild and untamed remains of a post-apocalyptic West Coast. Players will finally get the chance to explore every cliffside, swim through every lake, andclimb every toweringHorizonTallneckcontained in this map whenHorizon Forbidden West’sBurning ShoresDLC launches on the PS5 tomorrow.
Horizon Forbidden Westis available now on PS4 and PS5. TheBurning ShoresDLC launches April 19 for PS5.
