Most of the enemies players fight inHogwarts Legacyare Dark Wizards or enchanted Pensieve Guardians, but sometimes the magical beasts of the wizarding world will pose a threat to the player as well.

Dugbogs are powerful but surprisingly stealthy enemies that players will find in rivers, bogs, and grasslands in the areas around Hogwarts. Whether players are looking for Dugbogs to complete challenges in their Field Guide or because they need togather up Dugbog Tongues for potion making, these enemies can be extremely challenging to take down. That said, Dugbogs have many weaknesses that witches and wizards can exploit to make fighting them much easier.

Fighting Dugbogs in Hogwarts Legacy

There are two kinds of Dugbogs: Cottongrass Dugbogs and Great Spined Dugbogs. They are identical, except the latter is larger, has more health, and does more damage. Dugbogs do not have any kind of magical shield, meaning any spell will work to deal damage to them. That said, they have a ton of hit points and are highly resistant to all types of damage.Fire spells like Incendio and Confringocan break through this armor to a degree, but it will still take a while to wear them down with these methods. They are also normally immune to the effects of Levioso, Accio, Flipendo, and other spells that move enemies around.

Dugbogs only have two attacks: a blockable tongue attack and an unblockable pounce attack, but if players don’t avoid them, they’llquickly use up all their Wiggenweld Potions. It’s possible to flip a Dugbog onto its back using force spells like Accio or Flipendo. To do this, players need to dodge their unblockable charge attack and then launch a force spell at the Dugbog before it recovers fully from the attack.

Their soft underbellies take critical damage from all spells. Right before a Dugbog uses its tongue attack, they are actuallysusceptible to Levioso, allowing the player to levitate them in the air by their tongue. This also exposes the underbelly for more damage.

The absolute best way to defeat Dugbogs relies on two very specific spells. First, players should wait until theDugbog starts to wind up for its tongue attack and use Levioso to hang it by its tongue. From here, using Diffindo, the severing charm, will instantly defeat even Great Spined Dugbogs. This strategy makes farming Dugbog tongues for Focus Potions much easier.
