Players who chose Turtwig as theirBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlstarter may not have a need for the Grass/Poison-type Roselia. Unlike Turtwig and its evolutions, Roselia’s line excels in Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. However, getting Budew or Roselia and then evolving it to Roserade can be quite a process.

Raising Budew will take time and patience, so if you want Roserade, you’ll want to catch Budew as soon as it becomes available. Where to Find Budew
Budew Location in BDSP
You can find Budew on Route 204, Route 212, Eterna Forest, Grand Underground, and the Safari Zone. If you’re searching for Budew in the wild, then you’ll want to look for it during theMorningorDay. You can find Budew at Night, too, but it has a lower chance of appearing. Depending on where you’re catching Budew, its level will vary:
If you want Budew early, then it’s recommended you catch one from Route 204.
How to Evolve Budew into Roselia
How to Raise Friendship
To evolve Budew into Roselia, it needs to level up while having high friendship. The quickest way to raise friendship inBrilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlis to have Budew walk outside its Poke Ball (“Walk Together” function). You can unlock this ability by visiting Amity Square in Hearthome City. Go there once with an eligible Pokemon (the Sinnoh Starters qualify), then leave to unlock the ability to have your Pokemonwalk alongside you (mostly) anywhere you go.
You can also feed Budew vitamins (ex: Calcium, Carbos) and Rare Candy. There are also stat-decreasing berries that raise friendship. They are:
EV-lowering berries can be very useful if you’re trying to EV train your Pokemon. For Budew, you’ll want to feed it Kelpsy Berries to raise its friendship. The Budew-line’s base Attack stat isn’t remarkable to begin with, and its primary means of attacking will be with special moves.
You’ll want to avoid giving it medicinal herbs like the Revival Herb, asthis will lower its friendshipby 5 points.
Another way to raise friendship is tospeak to the lady in Veilstone City. She’ll massage a Pokemon (only once a day) of your choice. Her house is located on the hill with the Veilstone City Gym; it’s the first one on the right.
Where to Find Roselia

Leveling up Budew can be a hassle for some trainers. Fortunately, you’re able to catch Roselia in the wild or the Grand Underground. Roselia is located in the Trophy Garden, Route 212, Route 221, Route 224-225, and Route 229.
Those looking to catch Roselia early should search the Trophy Garden and Route 212. Roselia found in these areas will be around level 17.
How to Evolve Roselia into Roserade
Shiny Stone Locations
To evolve Roselia into its final evolution, Roserade, you will need aShiny Stone. There are various places to get this item, but they won’t come until much later in the game. The Shiny Stone is located in the following areas:

Roserade has excellent base stats and its learnset and potential moves make it extremely versatile. The only drawback to Roserade is that you will likely evolve your Roselia in the late-game. Youcanavert this by transferring your Roserade toSword/ShieldorScarlet/Violetand evolving your Roselia with a Shiny Stone in those regions. Besides that, Roserade’s main strengths are its Speed and Special Attack. You’ll notice its moveset mostly consists of special moves, taking advantage of its Sp. Attk base stat. Its dual typing (Grass/Poison) gives it coverage that most Grass-type Pokemon don’t have, and it can learn Poison-type moves which aresuper-effective against Fairy-type.

Because of Roserade’s base stats, its best Nature to have isTimid (+Spd, -Attk). However, you can get away with aModest (+Sp. Attk, -Attk)or evenCalm (+Sp. Def, - Attk)if you want to prioritize its Special Attack or Special Defense growth respectively.
Roserade’s status conditions are curedwhen it’s swapped outwith another Pokemon.
