For the past few days,Call of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzonehave had issues with long matchmaking times, leaving players stuck in queues much longer than they typically are. However, Infinity Ward is taking steps to address the issue, with a fix confirmed to be coming, though there’s no ETA for it just yet.

Over on Twitter, Joe Cecot, Infinity Ward’s co-design director of multiplayer, acknowledged the issue in a reply to a fan. According to Cecot, the problem has now been identified, and Infinity Ward is “working on a fix.” Infinity Ward had initially claimed that the issue was solved in a previousCall of Dutyupdate, but the issues have persisted since April 28.

Community sentiment has shifted somewhat recently, withfans increasingly upset overModern Warfare’sissues. Long matchmaking times, in particular, have been a contentious issue for fans. There’s still a dedicated base of players, and while the game has had its share of bugs, it certainly isn’t outside of the norm for a massive multiplayer game likeModern Warfare.

It’s difficult to say when Infinity Ward will deploy the fix, and until the issue is solved fans will have to deal with the matchmaking problems. This does seem like it will be a priority for Infinity Ward, though, so a fix should be in the pipeline soon.Warzoneis confirmed for next-gen consoles, so it will be around for quite some time. Issues will continue to rise here and there, but it is good that Infinity Ward is squashing bugs now.

Last weekend offered adouble XP bonus inModern WarfareandWarzone,though the matchmaking times, along with an issue that blocked earned XP tracking, did highlight the game’s current issues. Still, many are optimistic that the issues will quickly be solved, allowing the game to return to its normal state.

Hopefully, Infinity Ward’s fix for the matchmaking problem is released soon. It’s hardly the biggest issue facing humanity right now, butCall of Dutyhas served as an escape from real-world madness, which is invaluable during times like these.
