Side-scrolling horror gameLittle Nightmares 2released to mostly positive reviews earlier this year, and now it’s available on even more platforms.Little Nightmares 2has been surprise-launched for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, bringing the game to next-generation consoles with various enhancements. Better yet, those who already ownLittle Nightmares 2on PS4 or Xbox One can upgrade to the next-gen version completely free of charge.
TheLittle Nightmares 2next-gen enhancements mainly consist of improved 4K visuals, with more details in the game world and ray-tracing. The game enjoys some audio improvements as well, so the overallLittle Nightmares 2presentationhas gotten a big boost with the jump from PS4 and Xbox One to PS5 and Xbox Series X. Load times have also been improved, though it doesn’t seem as though the PS5 version has any special DualSense features, or at least they haven’t been mentioned by the developers if they do exist.

Out of all theLittle Nightmares 2chapters, the Hospital level has reportedly had the most changes in the next-gen version. The developers have not only added ray-tracing toLittle Nightmares 2’s Hospital level, but they’ve alsod added real time reflections to the floors. This should go a long way in making this particular chapter ofLittle Nightmares 2that much more visually-impressive than it was in the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
Now thatLittle Nightmares 2is out on PS5 and Xbox Series X, it will be interesting to see if developer Tarsier Studios decides to expand on the game with any kind of DLC or expansion.Little Nightmares 2sold over 1 million copies, so one has to imagine that there is an audience out there who would want to play more of the game. Plus, the firstLittle Nightmareshad DLC, so there is precedent for Tarsier Studios to expand on itsLittle Nightmaresgames. However, Tarsier Studios has said that it is done makingLittle Nightmarescontent, so it’s possible Bandai Namco would hand the reigns to a different team instead if it wants to seeLittle Nightmares 2DLC.
Without spoiling anything, theLittle Nightmares 2story had a definitive ending, and so it’s difficult to see exactly what direction aLittle Nightmares 2DLC would take. However, the developers at Tarsier Studios have shown time and time again that they are extremely creative with these games, so they could probably think of something, if they were willing to continue their work on the franchise. While DLC may or may not happen at some point, fans of the horror platformer games can try out the next-generation version ofLittle Nightmares 2to help pass the time while they wait for more news on the franchise’s future.
