A new month and a new year are right around the corner, which means it is time forMagic Arenato shake things up. There isn’t a new Standard-legalMagic: The Gatheringset available untilthe coming release of Kaldheim, but that doesn’t mean the game’s digital option can’t switch up its event offerings.
The end of December and the beginning of January are shaping up to be an exciting time forfans of the Historic formatwith both a Historic Shakeup and a Historical Brawl event on the horizon in the final days of the year and the beginning of 2021. In addition to that, there will still beMagic: The GatheringStandard set limited tournaments available thanks to Zendikar Rising drafts.

As a throwback, this month is also going to giveMagicfans a chance to revisit the popular Guilds of Ravnica limited format with a return of Premier Drafts of the 2018MtGset. All of that combined seems like it should offer fans tons of options for tournament play during the holiday week, whether they are interested in Standard-set limited play and picking up cards for thecurrent Standard-legal constructed formator the wilder Historic format.

Historic Brawl

“We’ll be starting the new year off with a weeklong Historic Brawl event—with no entry fee! From January 2–8, play as much Historic Brawl as you like with no entry fee required.”
As always, players can also queue up for casual or ranked Constructed play at any time. Those matches are free and are the primary way lots of players attempt to climb the ranked Constructed ladder all the way up to the Mythic Tier. Reaching that level of play requires a ton of practice, play, and grinding; but is a great way to try and qualify for special tournament invites and prizes in the competitive card game.
