Wizards of the Coast is celebratingMagic: The Gathering’s 30th anniversary by announcing its plans for the game through 2026. Along with new original content, these plans also include crossovers with massivevideo game franchises likeFalloutandFinal Fantasyas part of the Universes Beyond initiative.
Magic: The Gatheringis one of the most successful collectible card games in history. The tabletop version has been persistently popular, while the digital versions ofMagic: The Gatheringhave proven to be big hits as well. Wizards of the Coast is looking to keep the ball rolling with brand-new releases that will launch over the next few years, with some that video game fans may be especially interested in collecting.

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed thatFalloutCommander Decks are coming toMagic: The Gatheringin March 2024.Fallout’s various factionswill be featured in the commander decks, as will its iconic super mutants. Then, in 2025,Magic: The Gatheringwill be crossing over withFinal Fantasy, with all main seriesFinal Fantasygames represented. It was confirmed that theFinal Fantasycards will also be usable inMagic: The Gathering Arena.
Magic: The Gathering Future Release Plans
The previously-announcedMagic: The Gathering/Assassin’s Creedcrossover was also touched on by Wizards of the Coast. Similar to theFinal Fantasyset,theAssassin’s Creedsetwill represent all theAssassin’s Creedvideo games that have been released so far.Assassin’s Creedfans can start collecting the franchise’sMagic: The Gatheringcards beginning July 2024.
While that does it for the currently-announcedMagic: The Gatheringvideo game crossovers, there’s even moreUniverses Beyond contentfor fans to look forward to in the next few years. On October 13,Magic: The Gatheringfans can check out theMagic: The Gathering - Doctor Whoset, which includes four Commander decks. And then in Q4 2023,Magic: The Gatheringis crossing over withJurassic Worldto help celebrate the 30th anniversary ofJurassic Park’s theatrical release. The cards in this set, titled Lost Caverns of Ixalan, will represent all six of theJurassic Worldmovies released so far.
By crossing over with other established franchises,Magic: The Gatheringcan potentially draw in new players who have never played the card game before. It’s likely that Wizards of the Coast will continue releasingMagic: The Gatheringcrossover cards and decksand cards beyond the ones named here, but fans will have to wait for more information on that front.
