Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has no shortage of costumes it can introduce. Given the growing popularity of Moon Knight, Arachknight would be fun to see. WithAndrew Garfield’s Spider-Mangetting plenty of love after the events ofSpider-Man: No Way Home,The Amazing Spider-Man 2costume would also be a worthwhile inclusion. And, of course, there is the long-requested Symbiote suit to consider.
With a massive lineup of costumes sure to be present, especially with two playable Spider-Men being featured in the story, Insomniac should strive to verify that a large chunk of the costumes have some narrative weight behind them. Though there will obviously be outfits so absurd that they have to be treated as bonus costumes, part of theMarvel’s Spider-Man 2costume lineup should be justified within the story.

Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Suit-Related Moments
Some of theMarvel’s Spider-Manseries’ very best moments are suit related. In the original game, the creation of Peter’s Advanced Suit is treated as a big deal, with his first swing through the city being unforgettable. Another memorable suit moment comes at the end of the game when Peter designs the Anti-Ock Suit, a costume made out of the same material asDoctor Octopus’ tentacles.
This trend continues inSpider-Man: Miles Morales, which has two strong suit moments of its own. The first is playable, as it sees Miles swinging through the snowy version ofNew York Cityin his very first costume, which was a crude design made by Peter. The other suit-related sequence comes later in the game, and it sees Miles crafting his own suit, with the iconic black and red colors making for a terrific design. With each game thus far having some big outfit-related moments, it is a trend that should continue.

Suits That Should Be a Key Part of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Narrative
The suit that needs to be the most pivotal to the story is undoubtedly theSymbiote Suit. Fans have been waiting since 2018 to see Insomniac’s take on the costume, and it can be assumed that the long wait to wear the outfit is because it will be introduced during the main story. When it finally does debut, players should see its impact on Peter firsthand, with his attitude slowly changing the longer he dons the costume. The Symbiote suit’s corruption of Peter can and should be a focus of the story, and much like the Advanced Suit now has Iron Spider legs, the Symbiote suit should add some abilities to the mix.
Anti-Ock suits should also be created for the two main threats of the story,Kravenand Venom. Since it can be assumed Peter will have the most fights with Venom, as he has a close connection to its host, Miles will likely be the one to clash with Kraven more frequently. If Miles gets an anti-Kraven suit, it could amplify his cloaking and electricity abilities to make him too much for Kraven to handle. It could also be more durable against the villain’s spears and other weapons. As for Peter’s anti-Venom suit, it could give him sound and fire attacks, letting him exploit the Symbiote’s two weakness.
By givingMiles and Peterspecial costumes to defeat the main villains, Insomniac will be continuing to make alternate suits vital to the main narrative. Further, if the rumor about Symbiote variants of every costume in the game prove true, then the developer will be going above and beyond to place emphasis on the game’s suits. This could only be a good thing, as it would give players and the characters a proper reason to swap costumes throughout the story.
