Major Washington D.C. landmarks have been added toMicrosoft Flight Simulatorby a third-party developer that has been specializing in add-ons for the game for decades, and they look spectacular.
Gamers love mods, especially when they’ve run out of activities in their current title of choice. Mods are a great way to add a little extra fun on top of foundational titles, such asThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimand its thousands of modsthat have released in the past decade. While many mods out there tend to add a bit of silliness and fun to adventurers, others are geared towards aesthetic and graphical enhancement. Drzewiecki Design focuses on the latter, specifically for flight simulation software.

One of the main activities inMicrosoft Flight Simulatoris looking for landmarks and locations of interest put together by the algorithm and software. Some players have been taking the opportunity to look for their own houses in the game, but because of the location generator headed by an algorithm, in-game locations are not always one hundred percent accurate. Prior to Drzewiecki Design’s addition of the Washington Monumentadd-on toMicrosoft Flight Simulator, when players would fly over the White House, it was seemingly missing. The Lincoln Memorial stood tall, but not much else around it, including the White House.
But thanks to Drzewiecki’smod toFlight Simulator, many of these missing points of interest such as monuments, bridges, trains, and stadiums in D.C. have been made available to explore. The package entitled “Washington Landmarks MSFS” includes approximately 1500 custom-made buildings and other locations, such as West End, East End, Waterfront, and Crystal City. Players can even visit the White House, complete with the current inhabitants inside. But Drzewiecki’s website doesn’t state if the inhabitants will change depending on November’s election results.
The add-on also includes an airport enhancement package includingJoint Base Andrews, College Park Airport, Potomac Airfield, and the Washington Executive Airport, all custom-made with their own personal aircraft. A dozen landable helipads, as well as helicopters, will also be included in theFlight Simulatorpackage. Unlike most mods out there, however, the Washington landmark add-on comes at the small price of approximately $17.99, depending on the retailer that players buy from.
Also available forMicrosoft Flight Simulatorfrom Drzewiecki Designs is its Moscow landmarks package, complete with a thousand custom-made buildings such as churches, domes, hotels, train stations, and monuments. For past installments of theFlight Simulatorseries, the third-party developer made numerous international modifications, so it’s likely players will get to see more from Drzewiecki in the future.
