YouTuber Brandon “Bashurverse” Ashur, known for hisMinecraftvideos, has died at the age of 36 after contracting COVID-19 in August.

Ashur’s sister, Anesa Ashur, announced theMinecraftYoutuber’s death on Facebook on Monday. Her statement has since been shared to Twitter, Reddit, and other parts of the internet. Anesa Ashur stated how saddened she was by her brother’s passing before mentioning the mark that he left on the internet. Anesa included a disclaimer about people who feel strongly about Bashurverse in the Twitter post in an effort to dissuade trolling.

Anesa Ashur shared several photos of Brandon with her tweet about his passing, from childhood photos to a more recent one. She confirmed that Bashurverse was surrounded by friends and family when he died, and banjo music was helping him remain in a peaceful state.

Although Brandon Ashur reached a smaller community of 333,000 on Twitter, he regularly updated his followers through his experience with COVID-19. Ashur tweeted on August 12 about his fifth day of COVID-19, discussing how his dad gave him the virus and was in the hospital himself. On August 15, Ashur confirmed that he also contracted pneumonia and was fighting it in addition toCOVID-19, when he succumbed to the sickness.

Brandon Ashur was moved into intensive care and put onto intravenous lines and oxygen in an attempt to save his life. Ashur tweeted to his followers imploring them toget vaccinatedwhile struggling with COVID-19 and pneumonia in the hospital. According to his tweets from the hospital, Ashur was under the impression that he was recovering from the virus after nearly dying from it.

Minecraftfans may know Bashurverse from The Legend of Hobo YouTube series, which gained a lot of traction in 2015. Although his original account reached far more people, Brandon Ashur’s channel still had a community of over one million people waiting for the latest video. His last upload to this account was last year, but theMinecraftYouTubercontinued to post on Twitter into his final hours.

Bashurverse has had a storied YouTube history over the years, with fans and detractors of varying degrees. There are manyMinecraftfans who will never forget him for the videos that created, whileKeemstar’s Drama Alertfans won’t forget the various allegations about him. On August 25, Ashur thanked the followers that stuck with him through everything and stated that they were helping him fight COVID-19. Ashur died merely days later.
