Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis an incredibly popular first-person shooter title. The first-person perspective locks players into the action, making the guns look great, the action feel real, and the story more immersive. Still, many fans stop and wonder whatModern Warfarewould look like from a third-person point of view.

As some have seen, occasionally a glitch will trigger the third-person camera lock and completely changes how a fan views the game. InWarzone,third-person camerasare used to drive the vehicles, proving that the engine is capable of such a feat. While the occasional glitch looks clunky and broken, this iteration seems to have a much cleaner approach.

The clip was posted by NickSiemons94 on Reddit and it clearly shows a third-person point ofview in aModern Warfaremission. Fans can get a clear view of the player turning their character, maneuvering the camera, and sprinting from point to point. There is even a fully functional zoom-in for when they are ADSing along with additional options to switch shoulders if needed.

The entire experience looks graphically great, but also gives the game an almost fresh point of view. In the comments, the post author explains that the glitch triggered while they were reviving a teammate. As the revive animation played, the teammate left the game and locked the camera into a third-person point of view with only one downside: no killstreaks could be triggered.

Third-person capabilities in a game come from the game engine itself. While some engines can support third-person functionality, others struggle to render the entire environment around the model. ConsideringModern Warfareruns on a highly custom engine, the code for third-person play may have been implemented in the background, and never removed, resulting in the occasional glitch.

Still, many fans remain hopeful that a third-person game mode might be possible intheCall of Duty: Modern Warfareuniverse. Seeing the model move and maneuver helps fans easily visualize how tactics and strategy would function in that environment. With most of the programming apparently functional, it is not outside the realm of possibility that a third-person game mode could appear in the future.

Until then, players will be stuck in a first-person perspective for most encounters. Whilethird-person has its advantages,Call of Dutyhas worked hard for a long time to embrace the first-person shooter world and master its storytelling through its unique lens.
